Good Morning FS warriors!!! I hope everyone is fighting the good fight! my loss seems to have slowed a bit....but I passed another 10's Woooohoooooo!!! Any loss is a good loss! Last week during my eating days I tried for some pasta dishes made with lentil, pea and cauliflower flours, it was lower carb, but still higher than actually eating whole cauliflower. The taste was fine, but I hated the texture....still did not stop me eating it with the organic alfredo sauce! LOL! I hate wasting food, even if it increases my waist 🙄. I have been nursing a twisted ankle from helping my hubby break down and load his tools from a job-site where they have been set up for about 3 months now. We were loading the big saws and I stepped in a hole and went to my knees, not serious....but swollen and tender. Lots of ice and sitting with it elevated. I can walk on it...but it complains! I had been training another clerk at the PO so they have left her with me for a few more days, she is doing most of the mail distribution while I am parked at the counter on a stool. Not typical for them to do that, but she can't actually start at her assigned PO till after she completes SSA training in Savannah and her class starts Monday. Hopefully I will be more mobile by then. Poor Hubs had to hire someone to help him get his equipment moved since his free helper is on the sidelines! He does not like to lift and move heavy things with a stranger, they can't read his mind like I can. He needs to work on his verbal communication skills!!!! They don't know that a grunt means speed up or a growl means slow down!! So my movement has been reduced this week but I'm still going down...it's all good! I'm going to hobble to the kitchen and start my break-fast. Ya'll have a great day!

Congrats on the loses. Very impressive considering. Hope you can get that mobility back. But staying off it is probably quite important. I usually use konjak noodles for anything "pasta" texture is very different but I have come to like it. Hope you have a great day

That is a very respectable loss for one week ! I am not a fan of substituting veggie spirals for pasta. I have never tried any of the bean based pastas. When I had issues with weight I was eating the cheaper brands of traditional pasta in large portion sizes several times a week. I still eat pasta but now maybe. Twice a month. I also discovered the better quality Italian pastas ( even though a bit more expensive) are much more satisfying. The box/ bag says 2 ounces is a serving but typically 4 ounces provides the satiety and enjoyment of the meal. You should be so proud of your weight loss and being open to mix it up once in awhile and try new things.

Thanks Liv! It's always better when I have more motion while fasted! @HoneeBuns, this was a VeggieCraft penne pasta. I usually avoid all the "low carb" processed foods.....because when all is said and done....it's still processed food, I just wanted a bigger variety in my menu and I was really wanting a pasta dish. I also got the spaghetti by the same brand, I'll try it this week and see if it's less chewy? I don't really know how to describe what I disliked about the texture. I cooked it according to the instructions and it seemed under cooked, so I cooked it some more..it did not help much. I mixed it with the sauce and let it sit for a bit, still chewy. Put it in the refrigerator over night and had it for lunch the next day, reheated it was somewhat better. The sauce was pretty thick, I'm hoping that the spaghetti is better, we shall see! It also seems to create a good bit of gas, but that's a given since it's a crucerifus and legume based recipe. I don't believe it's something I will add on an ongoing basis, but it's fun to try different things, you never know, if you are going to like it till you try!

Debra what I have found in my journey is you can’t sub in something for something else in the same recipe and expect the same outcome. For example I could never sub in spaghetti squash in a spaghetti and meatball dish. But I might be able to use spaghetti squash in a different recipe that maybe had an Alfredo type sauce with chicken with olives and still fill the taste and satiety that is more in line with my nutrition goals. Keep at it and figure out what works for you !

I guess what I am saying is what has worked for me is really try to identify what it is I enjoy about my meals is zeroing in what makes me like a particular dish. For example in this dish you really want and seem to focus on the pasta. Irregardless of what the sauce was… so make the pasta fill your need but keep the rest of the ingredient’s in control of your caloric and dietary intake. I know this works differently because you are more lo carb than me but if it was me I would try control more about the sauce and not the pasta.

And for you it may be more about the Alfredo sauce so don’t try fake yourself out with something that’s isn’t pasta. Try the sauce over chicken or fish. I am rambling but hope you understand the message.

I get what you are saying Honee! I usually do the sauces and meats and forgo the pasta, so the pasta is what is missing in the meal, I have to avoid the wheat based pastas because they are a trigger food and create binges, there is no way the VeggieCrafts pasta is going to trigger any type of binge it does not have the pasta taste, the taste is not bad....it's just got no taste at all which I could handle if the texture was right. I am not a connoisseur of pastas.....I love Chef-boyardee ravioli and spaghetti and meatballs...bring on the Beefaroni and those Spaghetti-O's. Childhood comfort foods, so there is where I am avoiding going with that.

Sara, Thank you and I think I will be fine, swelling is down a considerable bit today and I spent more time on my feet.

Loved the update. Very interesting. I help my hubby a lot too and things go faster and smoother. I seem to get injured sometimes too. We are both kind of long in the tooth to do all of this work but we feel we have to. Speedy recovery to you.
