Diana i met with the nutritionist at physical therapy last year about 1/2 way thru weight loss and she told me i needed more fat in my diet. I was so stubborn. Nope, I have to do it my way (was on 700ish calories at that time) I told her i would add fat back after i hit my goal. Im learning how stubborn and frankly, annoyingly stubborn and ignorant, i was to not heed her advice. I didnt realize how important a healthy amount of fat is to a diet. I dont seek it out but i do try and hit around 40-50 grams a day. Look at that, me, an old dog, learning a new trick! Thank you for the lesson my love.

YOH, That is a crazy low calorie diet! Wonder if you would've lost faster if you had higher fat? I've learned to trust my nutritionist cuz she is always right!

Diana, i tried 1200 calories, then 1000 and was getting zero weight loss, even with walking and physical therapy going on (pt 3X a week post hip replacement). Not to mention i was in healing mode from hip surgery. My primary doc found i was in adrenal failure which was causing my metabolism to barely move. My adrenals function at about 10% as opposed to 100%. So i went down another 300 calories to the 700 and started losing 1-2 pounds a week. I was absolutely starving. Loads and loads of syncope probably 100’s of times a day. I have arrhythmia (for past 25 years) and episodes were much more frequent. And a lot of rapid heartbeats. I was starving and probably malnourished but because i was off work and off prednisone i had a glimmer of my old healthy self and pushed thru. I often thought i may stroke out or have a serious cardiac event last summer (2022) and while it was scary, the idea of not being heavily obese anymore after 8 years of ever increasing weight outweighed (forgive the pun) the fear. It’s absolutely an unhealthy and unsustainable way to lose weight. Horrible. I didnt believe in it when i was doing it but i was so excited i was getting stronger and losing weight. About six months ago or maybe a little more i started adding back calories cautiously. Usually around 1000 and this stalled my weight loss to about 1/2 to 1 pound a week, but i was no longer waking up hungry, going to bed hungry etc. just a unique set of medical issues made me feel like i had no choice and didnt have the patience to try and get the weight off over several years. I also thought i was going back to work and the window of opportunity was going to close in 90 days last July which gave me a lot of momentum to continue. Yikes, im a huge over explainer. Sorry about the diatribe. Anyway who reads this do NOT follow in my footsteps. Bad idea.

Hoping I can lose on 1500 calories. The last time I went on a very rigid plan was in 1991 when I did Sweating to the oldies .it was really a restricted fat plan and I ended up losing my Gallbladder. I could do alot more exercise then.

Diana he was not a fan but we both knew that i was headed for a coronary event or worse at the pace i was gaining weight. 2014 when we built this house i was 150 pounds. 2016 i was around 190 pounds 2018 i was 212 then mom died and i stopped eating entirely for a month and went down to 190 in a couple of months but started piling back on when i started eating again in 2019. By 2022 i was at my highest (that i know of) 227 pounds. Correlated with bouts of prednisone for long periods of time but i had lost all motivation to take care of myself. So, he was supportive given the set of circumstances medically and the very obvious downward spiral i had been in over the years. We both knew when i went back to work (12-18 hour days. No less than 12 and often 14) that my health and taking care of myself would take a backseat to the almighty dollar. My, i am verbose today😂

Diana, Not sure how healthy I am, but I keep telling myself that I Am 🙂 Everyone believed that diet was so healthy then and it wasn't. I wish I had more energy now. I need to buy vitamins and start taking them again 💗

rcguenth, I just read your bio and your post from awhile ago. I had never seen it before. I'm so sorry about your daughters! It's so hard when our relationships with our children doesn't go as we think they should. I've been there with my son. We have a good relationship now but it took a lot of tough love to get where we are now. I prayed every day for his healing and God answered me so please have faith. I will pray for God to heal your family as well. As for your health and weight, take it one day at a time. Set small goals, exercise as you are able, even if it's just walking and log your food. Think about getting healthy, not at how much weight you lose. One will follow the other. Take care friend!🩷
