SherryeB's Journal, 14 September 2023

Worked outside on the gardens a little today. I cut back the Yarrow & Black-eyed Susans & trimmed the yellowed Canna Lilly leaves. I'm going to transplant some of the Cannas into another garden. They've overwhelmed the spot where I originally planted them. I've been collecting seeds from them, thinking I'd start new plants in the Spring, but I already have these to move. I'm going to get some Mums to add Fall color in the gardens. I've been trying to decide when to get them. Probably in the next couple of weeks.

My sisters gave me a new bronze colored metal spinner for the gardens for my birthday at the end of the month. Hubby helped me assemble it & we put in the ground today.

I also redid the Fall wreath for my front door with new flowers, berries & leaves & hung it on the door. I'm getting in the mood to put up all of the Fall decor soon.

Well, off to bed 🛌 📚 😴 Teddy (our Yorkie) woke me up a little earlier than I wanted this morning.

Sherrye you may be the perfect person. We have standard blue hydrangeas that are 7 years old. We prune back every fall to about 18-24” from ground. This year for whatever reason they are massive both vertically and horizontally. Don’t want them to grow so big. They are probably 5-6’x6-7’ around. Any tips to stop the massive growth? Also, they didnt start blooming till about a month ago which is really weird usually by July they are filled but they didnt have a single flower till nearly august. Now they are blooming like crazy. Ideas?
