SherryeB's Journal, 18 March 2023

Took a down day today. I wasn't feeling great when I got up. Hubby took Teddy to get stitches removed from having a small cyst this morning. I lingered over my coffee & read while he was gone.

When they got home I made breakfast & we cleaned the kitchen.

I had a bunch of laundry to put away. While doing that, I decided to sort thru my sock drawer, panty drawer & tank drawer. I pulled everything out & and organized. I made a pile of tanks to donate & threw out some socks, tanks & panties. Now we'll see how long they stay organized 😏

I talked to my Sisters in Columbus, this afternoon. My next to the youngest Sister is in the hospital. She has a kidney infection & pneumonia. They determined she had an ecoli infection & they're trying to determine what antibiotics she needs to clear it up. Also, her blood pressure has been low. Hopefully, she'll be able to go home soon. She's feeling better, but they aren't sure if she can take oral antibiotics or will need intravenous....meaning they'll put in a port. My youngest Sister is a nurse. She's been sick for almost 2 weeks, so I'm glad at least they've determined what is wrong & can treat her properly.

I read more this afternoon & watched some TV.

Late afternoon, I went out & covered perennials again. It's forcast to be 24° tonight with a high in the 40's tomorrow & 24° again tomorrow night. I'm worried the cold may damage the Dogwoods & my Japanese Maple that are starting to leaf out & have buds. 😕 Keeping my fingers crossed 🤞

Off to bed 🛌 😴

Sherry, I sure hope your sister gets better and stays healthy. It can be so stressful when our loved ones are sick. I hope your trees hang tough and aren't affected by the cold. Those "false spring" periods can really do a number on some plants. 😕

Thank you Becca, Writing & Wifey! This Sister already struggles with chronic pain issues & other health concerns. Sometimes, if something new arises she gets pretty sick before she realizes it's a new issue.

Becca, we get a lot of temperature fluctuations here as Winter ends & Spring begins. We've had an extended period of warmer weather this year, early. There have been years a late frost burned the leaves on the Japanese Maple to the point it didn't ever fully recover that year. If the cold damages buds on the blooming plants, they may not bloom at all 😕 There is only si much I can do to protect them.

Wifey, I take my share of down days 😊 I was pleased with myself that I did accomplish something constructive with the organizing. My youngest sis said she was surprised I wasn't outside working in the yard when they called. I told her it was cold & I was waiting for true Spring before I started my yard cleanup.

Sherrye, What a bummer that your sister is in pain! No one should experience pain, except for criminals! I have never loved a tree so much as our dogwoods!!! They have died and I want them back!!!! That will be this year’s mission. Take care my friend and enjoy your day! (Tim is a riot)!😆🤣
