Been there with the custody. Soon all will be normal with you and the kids. New routines, people, opportunities will soon come for you now. Everything will normalize. Good luck!

Sounds like you caught a potentially bad habit immediately (eating after the exchange). Next time you could have your shoes laced up and go for a run or walk outside to burn off the emotions 💚

JB ive always been a stress-eater. I went to costco and another store and did some light shopping. tried to get home at bed time, after i was able to stop crying. its always been one of my downfalls.

I love climbing but don’t think I’ve tried it at night.

I understand completely how you feel! At first I spent a lot of time crying and it took time to heal through this process.

When my girls pulled out of the driveway in their dad's car, I just used to find myself yanking the fridge open, not even making a conscious decision to go there! I soon learned not to buy family packs of anything....just fruit, fish & 0% quark & in the Herges "Tintin tin" a few squares of emergency chocolate.... I still have this tin it makes me smile more than it's contents these days!

I am sure that is painful. Try to think of it as a time for you to get strong and healthy so when your babies come back, they get the best mommy possible. Also, try to make it a normal process for them by being relaxed and not stressed. As I am sure you know, children pick up on the slightest discomfort even when we think we are hiding it. This will make them stronger at dealing with stress and not turn to food or other coping vices. Sending hugs, but knowing you will come out of this situation stronger and better.

I'm so sorry, I know it's hard for you. Just don't ever make it hard for the children. My children are middle-aged men now, but my ex-husband and I still get together with them when my older son is in town. We made a vow to never make our children's lives more difficult because of our divorce, and that is a vow we have always kept.
