SherryeB's Journal, 12 July 2022

I often wait til the end of the day to post my journal. Yesterday, I ran out of time as it was closing in on Midnight when we turned off the TV after watching Top of the Lake on Hulu. Elisabeth Moss (of The Handmaid's Tale fame) stars. All the characters are eccentric & some are flat out crazy!

The day started with me "running into" the bear cub 🐻 as I took Teddy out for a pee. It moved across the driveway quickly to the edge of our yard. I stepped out of the garage & attempted to get a pic as he gazed at me. Juggling the dog leash & my phone....he decided not to wait for his photo op & moved off into the woods.

Hubby & I went to the Gym for our 1st visit. We were weighed & got our body scans. Raul explained everything & we were encouraged to sign up for some personal training sessions. I'm not sure if the fact he reminded me of my oldest grandson won me over, but we agreed. Since, I really am at a loss as to how to get started & how to properly use the machines, I think it will be money well spent. We're getting 1 training session a week & we'll work on our own the other days. Having someone to answer to will also help us stay motivated. We decided to take some time on the treadmill & exercycle & wait for instuction on the machines. Then we swam in the pool & sat in the hot tub.

Our trainer texted to set up our sessions. Her name is Sammie, so initially I wasn't sure if she was male or female. Exploration on the Gym FB page led me to her Instagram page. I am totally impressed! She lost a bunch of weight (after pregnancies) & overcame some pretty severe health issues (Pain & kidney) by eating healthy & starting a lifting program. We are set for back to back sessions on Thursday to get started then Mondays each week. I'm pretty excited! I could feel where I'd worked some muscles yesterday afternoon, but I'm fine today. I have expectations that will change after working some of those muscles that have been unused for awhile.

Back home later, I was preparing a late lunch for Hubby & I when I heard a loud crash. The door shelves in the coat/ storage closet decided to fall off. The brackets just wore out after 26 years. I store cleaning products, assorted baggies, etc. there, so I had to get a couple of boxes & pick everything up. I was hungry & REALLY enjoyed my fresh tomato sandwich & bowl of fruit afterwards!!

I had considered skipping our afternoon walk...after all, I had already walked on the treadmill. I'm glad I didn't cause we saw 2 fawns at the top of the road as we returned 😁🦌🦌 Then we saw a Doe in the garden when we got back to the house. And....we walked 😏

I've been seeing a bunch of bunnies out in the neighborhood. I saw one by our front steps yesterday come out of the garden with a mouth full of salad 🥗 🐇

I got up a little earlier than usual this morning. I've gotten in the habit of reading late & sleeping late. I figure if I'm devoting time several days a week to the gym, I need to be up earlier to have time for all my other "stuff". That's not necessarily a bad thing.

Well, need to check on the load of laundry in the washer & make the bed....
