I took the first step! Hubby & I got the tour of & joined the Gym, yesterday. It has been a lotta years....at least 26....since I've been a gym member. I remember going regularly in my late 20's and have a vague recollection of going with Hubby when we lived in Dallas, shortly after we were married. I'm a bit apprehensive about what I will actually be able to do initially. But, I'm determined to give it a go. As an officially old person 😁 we don't even have to pay for our membership. The Silver Sneakers program gives us access to everything....machines, weights, classes, pool, hot tub, sauna. The gym is new & very nice. Next step is to be sure we have proper clothing, shoes, etc. 👟👟 & set up our initial orientation.

Although I have been maintaining successfully around my goal weight & feel/ look good in my clothing, I am a little squishy. I'm not sure at my age how much I'll be able to lose loose skin, but at least with a bit of muscle I'll hopefully fill it out better.

We had a bit of a surprise yesterday morning. Hubby saw a baby bear 🐻 scurrying along behind our back deck before I got up. We had just sat down for coffee at the table...we look out & he's climbing up the tree beside the deck....close to the bird feeder. I tried to get a picture but our movement scared him & he slid down the tree. Hubby opened the door to the deck & he took off.

A little later, I was hanging a hummer feeder after refilling it and a doe sauntered up (just a couple of feet from me) and went under the deck. I was curious, so I went around the side of the house to see what she was up to. She was lying on the ground, alongside the house but she didn't like me looking at her so she ran off. That's what I get for being nosy.

We had a quiet 4th of July weekend....just Hubby & I.

Tomorrow is Hubby's 79th Birthday. He's going out for lunch with some of his guy friends. We're going out for dinner, but not sure where yet. He said he didn't want to make a big to do of it.

The hot, muggy weather has returned. I tried sitting outside to finish my 2nd coffee but it was not comfortable, so I came back in to the air-conditioned comfort of the house.

Well, guess I need to get some housework done. I started a load of laundry....haven't made the bed yet. Some plants outside need a drink...so need to do that, too

I think we're having burgers 🍔 & a salad 🥗 for dinner. We went to Kroger to stock the freezer yesterday. I bought a Honey Mango 🥭 Supposedly it's sweeter than other mangos but I didn't find that to be so when I sliced some up for breakfast this morning. I was hoping they would have more of the huge Mangos I found last time, but no luck. Hubby is always looking for baked goods at the store. We bought half of a Butter Toffee Apple Pie. We tried it last night. He said it's not as good as the ones I bake 😁 We looked at various cakes but he kept putting them back when he read the calorie content. I often buy chips for him & I had a coupon. He said he's trying to only have a few with a sandwich instead of a bowl full at a time. I wonder if I'm rubbing off on him, cause that's what I do, now. We usually have some in the pantry but I'm not often tempted. I'm glad that when I tried to get healthier he joined me. It makes it much easier.
144.8 lb Lost so far: 28.0 lb.    Still to go: 9.8 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.
