gastropod's Journal, 11 June 2021

I don't normally weigh this frequently and I actually advise other people to weigh less frequently if poor scale results massively demotivate them.

But, If between dinner and getting up the net day I have to visit the little boy's room 7 times, I know my body has decided its a good time to release some of the water its been holding hostage for a week or so.

Hence this scale result. I biked 45 miles Monday through Wednesday. Lots of activity. But I went into my office yesterday and did as close to nothing as is humanly possible all day. I wasn't dehydrated and drank my usual 3-liters. Followed my eating plan for the day. That's it. Had a physical last week. My fasting glucose and A1C results were stellar.

I can pretend to understand all of the factors that influence my body's water balance. But in reality, I don't. Its way beyond just salt. Just sayin'

Sure, some of it may be water retention finally dumping off, but have you been good with your portion sizes and keeping your calories low (under 1800/day)? If so, then some of it may also be lost fat. Happy for your loss, Gastropod, and wishing you much more of it, too!

@JB, yes, I'm consistently under 1600 a day. You're right. Fat has been disappearing but has been masked on the scale by the overriding ebb and neep tides.

I looked at your food diary to see what you ate yesterday. Many foods are antiinflammatory and act as natural diuretics. You had lots of these rutabagas, cucumber, onion, zuchini and many more. Was your meal plan yesterday much different than other days? For me it is usually the food items and not sodium intact that causes small fluctuations in water weight. Some foods are also highly inflammatory and cause my body to hold onto water.
