SherryeB's Journal, 22 December 2020

I continue to be amazed my weight is staying stable (fluctuating but staying under goal). I guess that even though I'm eating & drinking a variety it's still at an acceptable level. I haven't done our afternoon walk since last Monday (I think) but I haven't been sitting on my butt either.

Hubby took the car down to the dealership for the 30,000 mile maintenance. I had thought I'd join him but decided to stay home, sleep in a little & get some stuff done around here. Threw laundry in, putting away serving dishes from Sunday, posted to Instagram/ FB. I've also been playing with our TV. We had our internet (that has always been super SLOW) upgraded on Friday & Kinetic TV installed. We had to buy a firestick so now I also have Alexa. We already have a Google mini. Trying out the music capabilities & have an awesome new Christmas music mix! We are planning to get rid of our DirectTV satellite. The cost has gone up & up. We paid too many $$$ this year & with Covid & no new programming for much of the year we paid big bucks to watch a couple of news shows & some HGTV. Anyway. the cost of Kinetic is about half. I still have to watch the few shows on the DVR before we cancel. We have to buy firesticks for our other 2 TV's. Hubby actually is receiving 1 from my son & daughter in law for Christmas he doesn't know about yet.

Our Family Christmas party at our house was very nice. Lots of laughter & some tears, too. Missing my brother in law 😢 💔 My niece's husband was not here due to being sick. He had been away at his hunt camp & started feeling yucky when he was supposed to be home on Sunday so decided not to expose the family. And my other niece's father & mother in law have Covid (He's a chiropractor & was exposed at work) My neice & her family haven't been exposed. They are going to miss their traditional Christmas Eve celebration they usually do. My brother & his family were "distancing" a little @ our house. My sister in law's Dad (age 93) is joining them on Christmas Eve for a few days. They lost her Mom the day after Christmas last year and none of them were wanting to spend Christmas day at his home where they were with her Mom on Christmas last year. It's been a tough year being distanced from each other and grieving. His granddaughters convinced him to come up & celebrate here. And my son & his family didn't join us. Daughter in law had surgery the 17th so wasn't able to travel yet.

We're playing Christmas day by ear. We were supposed to join family at my younger niece's home for dinner. Both she & her Hubby did a Covid test yesterday, just to be sure. They think he has a respiratory infection but are being careful. My sis who has been with them is at her other daughter's for now. We may be celebrating there....

Hubby & I have our house to ourselves again. Miss my daughter & granddaughter but it's OK to slow down and catch our breath, too.

It's warmish...55 degrees....but I think the forecast is for cold coming in & a chance of snow ❄ Christmas Eve.

Prayers appreciated for my family members experiencing illness and making their way thru the Holidays without their loved ones.

What a great job you are doing with maintaining! Yay for you!!! I am sorry about all the troubles and complications for your family this year. I pray you will all recover and those who are healthy stay well. It will just be my kids and my oldest's bf for Christmas here. It is so sad to be separated from our loved ones. I'm trying so hard not to let it get me down. Enjoy your rest and peace today!
