cocobutt's Journal, 03 January 2011

Made it through yesterday without junk food. No cravings for it either. I think I could have a bowl of M&M's in front of me now and not feel compelled to eat one bite, much less the entire bowl. I know how sick it would make me, and I don't want to give up how fantastic I feel right now.

I should've thrown out the gift candies we got over the holidays like I planned to. Mr Coco has been nervous lately because his mom's dementia symptoms are getting worse. She lives 3 hrs away and it's hard to keep tabs on her. So he was stressed out and popping candies, and it just made him feel worse.

When family problems arise, I know it can be hard to stick with a healthy routine. But we have got to try. I am a little concerned about how 2011 may go after the drama over the weekend.

Sorry to hear about your mom-in-law. You are right about stress. It's even more important to eat healthy when you're stressed.

Hi coco I have been working this a lot in my head today. It is very hard to not hold other people and or their life situation responsible for the way I feel. These things are out of our control so the best thing for us to do is to take care of ourselves. We need to stay our course and be strong to control our emotional bodies so that our physical bodies don't get hurt by our mindless eating or other bad habits. I am glad you are holding your ground! Coco, I am so sorry to hear about your MIL. I sounds as if things are going to be a bit rough for you for a while. I will be saying some extra prayers for you, your hubby, and your MIL. God bless!

Aw thanks, y'all. I found a really good website called caring.com that has lots of advice for caregivers -- whether it's taking care of parents or children with Alzheimer's, cancer or any debilitating illness. I told my daughter that I'm going to try to do everything I can to become and stay healthy so she won't have to worry about me. But even then, nothing is guaranteed these days. I've seen people who looked the picture of health get knocked to their knees with serious problems. Can't worry about it though... just deal with what comes.
