Happy early Father's Day. My husband has no children. We have dogs. So silly me decides he needs a card from the dogs.. I got a card and decided a paw print would be cute one from each like a signature. I got out the craft paint and a wet rag to get the paint off the paws, paper platesand a brush I decided red , pink and green . It's cool out this morning so I am going to start Abbey ( the Jack russel) so I put my thin layer of paint on the plate and went to find her,. She knew something was up and she wasn't about getting involved. I gave up chasing her and waited on the couch for her to come snuggle. She finally did and I got my hands on a paw. I got the heartbroken look of betrayal! went to put her paw in the paint....dry. so I have to let the paw go this time while. I waited, I kept the paint wet. Aside from the dirty look that one went pretty well. Cleaning the paw was fairly easy. Then there was Sadie [ dachshund] catching her was easier her favorite place is the bed was a simple matter to throw a blanket over her and hunt for what I needed. got the paw gently and you would have thought I was cutting it off with a dull grapefruit spoon! The noise ... I held her tight and tried to calm her.. eventually got the deed done. Then there was Bear the 70 pound Shepard. At this point I am questioning myself Do I want to do this or waste the money? I didn't want to waste the money nor did I particularly want to do it. anymore. I spent 45 minutes catching while trying to keep the paint wet...caught him got the paw wrestling for possession and position. I ended up straddling him like a horse holding the paw and finally managed to get the plate pressed on the paw. Then the struggle got real while holding this paw I landed face first in the grass away from the #=$%!×@$&%#× card. so the wrestle wiggle was invented finally reached the drafted card , lucky it was near the paint cuz....dry. slathered paint on my hand, at this point being propper with the paint brush is not an option. got paint on his paw wrestled the card up to the paw and released my victim. IT WAS DONE! Hindsight probably should not have chosen red... the card looks like it was a blood bath.

I wish this was recorded on video to watch over and over. Look on the bright side. You got 45 minutes worth of activity from this.

Thank you for sharing, I love your story. I hope your husband appreciates all of the love that went into his Father's Day. For future reference if you ever decide to try this again (having done something similar years ago for my ex), is to place the paint plate & card under their paws while feeding them. I found it helped me a lot because they were distracted and STANDING STILL. We had a Rottweiler, a Lab, and I was crazy enough to try to do the cats as well (OMG!).
