Yesterday ended my 2 week experiment. I ate 26441 kcal and burned 21299. That’s 367 kcal per day over my burn. I should’ve gained around 1.5#. Instead the scale shows I lost 2.2#.
However I did skip the gym Sunday so I should’ve showed a water gain yesterday. I also had a massage yesterday and that released a lot of water. So I don’t think 121 is my true weight. If I had to guess I would say I stayed about even. I’m going to push fluid again today and see what the scale shows tomorrow. I’m willing to bet it’ll be back to about 123.
Either way, two weeks of an average of 1889 kcal a day with an average burn of 1521 kcal didn’t do any harm that I can tell.
I haven’t checked the fat and carbs yet but I believe they were way higher than usual. I kept protein at 90-120g grams a day as usual.
I did learn that restaurant food will generally make me weigh more for a day or two after eating it but it goes away again. Probably all the msg and sodium they add to it.

That is really good. Most people have to burn a lot more than they can eat. We learn and we maintain.

I can’t imagine eating 300+ surplus every day and not gaining a bunch of weight. I don’t want to spend another year dieting to get it back off lol. Maybe I’ll keep around 1800 for the next two weeks and see what happens. It’s hard for me to stay much over that on a daily basis without eating a bunch of junk.

Thanks guys! I would love to find my upper calorie range that I can stay within and not gain. Maintaining or losing is fine 😉.

I thought it was your regular calorie intake, sorry about that! Hope you find your range. You're in shape and that's great!

I have the same with restaurant food. It takes me days to get on the same weight again. I can't blame the sodium only though, I always eat way more in a restaurant :) Btw. I do the same, I have a spreadsheet averaging my in and out calories. I am still trying to find "my" numbers to maintain.

When I did count mine in the past I was somewhere around 2000 calories but I need to burn 2000. By my calculations that is 832 exercise calories.

Ireland, I have a bmr around 1250. I regularly have a 1500 total burn just doing normal daily activities which isn’t much. I can get up to 1700-1800 when I go to the gym. That’s all based on what my Apple Watch says. I’m hoping it’s off a bit and I can regularly eat 1700-1800. Maybe more. 😉

Silkian, I had a spreadsheet I kept for over a year. I found them that I could eat about 1500 per day and I was around 125 when I quit keeping it. At 121-123 I can maintain on the same number. Just hoping I can eat a little more. I’d love to be able to add 3-4 days of 1800ish. The more muscle I can gain the more I can eat lol.
