SherryeB's Journal, 28 April 2020

I've been outside working in the gardens 3 days out of the past 4. It appears I'm designing as I go. We decided years ago to naturalize the area in front of our house because we couldn't get grass to grow. We put in a path and have perennials planted with potted annuals and yard art scattered around. I've been digging up assorted weeds & putting down mulch. I bought some Grass Be Gone to eliminate the weedy grass growing amongst the ground cover in the center of the yard. I realized that a portion if the yard had only weeds with no ground cover underneath. I was thinking I'd spray it with Roundup & mulch. Changed my mind & started digging the weeds out instead. Anyway....this has been keeping me out of the house, no temptation to snack and leaving me tired from the activity at the end of the day. I can stand back and admire my accomplishments afterward. This is the first year in awhile I have had this much motivation to work so hard outdoors. I credit my healthier body achieved by healthier eating 😀

We're still getting out for a walk each afternoon. Hubby & I were just talking about the possibility of walking the trails in a local park. The city has reopened the park for locals only. The sports fields & playgrounds are still closed but walking with appropriate distancing is OK.

I'm pleased that I'm maintaining well. I'm eating an assortment of meals including some pasta & burgers & desserts balanced with lots of fresh veggies, lean meats/ fish & fruit. I also have been enjoying my red wine & or cocktail in moderation.

We had our first death attributed to Covid 19 in our community. Our numbers remain low....29 last I saw. A lot of our local restaurants have chosen to not reopen just yet in spite of Governor Kemp's OK. Hubby & I are choosing to continue staying at home for the most part. We do go out for supplies (he more than I). It depresses me to think this may go on into the Summer or even longer. I miss spending time with friends & our family. I can be happy at home for days at a time but I do enjoy socializing at least once a week. I can't believe how excited I was to drive to the next town over on Friday afternoon to pick up a prescription & get curbside delivery for dinner. We planned to stop at Home Depot but when we drove up there was a long line to get in & we said "No Way"....too many people. The one time I've gone to Home Depot it was not too crowded & I could stay away from others easily.
