Getting a little fed up of my calorie intake being so low, so , at the advice of my doctor, I'm going to have a crack at a low carb diet. Which probably means I'll put weight back on for a bit while my body adjusts. Gonna need everyone's support to stick to it long enough to see results 🤞

I went mostly vegetarian and cut down my carbs by finding alternatives for pasta, rice and bread. White cabbage is a good substitute for pasta, cauliflower and broccoli good alternatives for rice, and Keto bread has a lot less carbs than normal white bread.

Thanks everyone. I keep hearing that low carb is healthy for people with PCOS, and it's pretty much the only thing I can think of that the specialist can ask me about that I haven't tried lol. Fingers crossed I don't put too much back on while I try to figure it out. TheOnlyRogueAngel, I've never seen low carb/keto bread but I'm gonna have to keep my eyes open!

I've been doing low carb & good intake of protein for the past 6 months now and it helped way more the any diet out there. I also do Intermittent fasting which is a great combination. Lost over 2 stones along with exercise 😊 so you got this. It's possible stay focus.

Finding a diet system that works for you is the real key.

Good plan. I follow a low as possible carb and high as possible protein regimen. Only carbs I do eat are “good carbs” like my oatsosimple. Then what I get from fruit and veg. You get used to it and it works. Good luck 👍

I started keto last week, lost 2kg and is quite simple to follow.....

It’s true reducing your carbs will help with weight loss because carbohydrates are the fuel for your body so if it can’t get the fuel it needs your body looks elsewhere your reserve tank which is fat but in order for it to work you still have to be more active to burn off the calories which is what carbs are there made up of protein which has 4 calories per gram and carbohydrates which also has 4 calories per gram where has fat has 8 calories per gram. Hope this helps

Paul, cheers for the info pal. Interesting reading. I never touch refined carbs. Struggle when my girlfriend is here though, but so far so good. 👍

Thanks everyone 😄 Paul, I don't record my activities because I find it wildly overestimates how many calories burnt and how many I should 'eat back' but I do exercise. Working two shifts a day doesn't leave me much time for it so I take advantage of the fact that both shifts are in the same place to walk back and forth so, if nothing else, I do my 3 miles of walking lol!

Hi frankie, I’m not trying to say you don’t do enough activity lol, I was trying to explain how the calories work and why one has more then the other every activity we do uses calories even sleeping, I have a lot of talk about on here of what people class as low carb diets I too am on a lower carb intake at the moment but mine contains 400g of carbs and 280g of protein each day and I have to eat over 3200 calories a day or I start to lose to much today I’ve lost a extra Ib I really don’t want to lose so I will have to up mine but to me it’s still low carb lol. Sorry for any confusion
