D.M. Becherer's Journal, 16 March 2019

Just got back from store, I was outta everything. Didn't buy hardly any fresh vegetables. They were looking pretty rough. Bought head of cabbage, carrots. I did get some apples, cuties, bananas, strawberries, skim milk & chicken . By time I was done dealing with groceries, & walking Riley was too tired n sore to cook. We ate our fruit & curled up in chair to rest a bit , before I work on laundry.

Changing your lifestyle eating habits for the better it’s hard .fresh veg and fruits are expensive .and when you have tight schedule makes it harder making meals ahead of time maybe freezing some leftovers for back up can help .but I can totally agree going store for your particular diet likes can be frustrating when they don’t have . I do frozen fruit in a bag at Walmart different blends it’s good too .wish you well.

Cuties are a type of mandarin orange. I'm a big fresh fruit eater. Have only tried frozen blueberries, & strawberries. Once thawed they were mushy. I agree that weighing your food is very important. I bought my first food scale several years ago. Last year right before Christmas it got broken. My family knowing how hard I was trying to lose weight decided to get me another for Christmas. I now have 3. One in use & 2 backups just in case.

I do meal prep sometimes, should probably keep more of it in my freezer for days when don't feel well or just not up to cooking. I eat a lot of fresh stuff that doesn't freeze well. Salads, tomatoes & such. I don't usually prep more than a couple of salads to keep in fridge at a time, don't want them getting mushy. New meal prep recipes & ideas always welcomed. I really appreciate your comments, its nice to know that people understand & care. So thank you.

Yes me again preaching sorry but attempting to look out for your welfare. See lots of pictures of fruits which are good in moderation but high on nature sugar which could elevate your BS /. Your better off eating leafy greens My advise is to ask your mds for a referral to a nutritionalist to better understand what your diet should consist of You mentioned Springfield assuming MA Unsure were you our definitely located but Hartford hospital has good programs as well as Springfield probably also has some. Please for your sake start learning what is healthy for a diabetic and this will also result into the weight loss you are seeking

My doctors I see are in Springfield Missouri. I went to their nutritionist almost 2 years ago. She told me that I needed to be eating 3800 calories a day just to have energy to get out of bed . She wanted me to eat 4400 calories a day. Also said that she wanted me eating serving of bread, potatoes, rice, or oatmeal with each meal. And to eat a 1/2 cup to a cup of fruit 2x a day with my meals. Talked to my doctor & gave him papers she given me, he was mad. Told me to eat lots of salads, some fruit, non starchy veggies, & lots of protein. Not to listen to the nutritionist she was wrong. And keep my calorie count around 2400 calories, then my other doctor said 1200 calories was plenty. So I try to stay in middle of those #s. Moat days I don't come anywhere close to hitting them, Som

Sometimes when my family is down here for vacation it's all I can do to stay in my calorie range cause all they do is want to eat out, or junk food. They get upset if I don't go out or if I want something different. They feel I'm setting bad example with the kids. Since when is a salad or fruit as opposed to chips , hotdogs, soda & candy a bad example. I've been bad this year I've been leaning more towards more fruit, & some salads. Where's last year it was mostly spinach salads & baked chicken breast. Please feel free to leave comments. I thank everyone for their input , comments & or suggestions. They are always welcomed & appreciated.

All I can say is wow when it comes to the nutritionalist. Guess with every field some good / some bad !!’ So sorry because a good one could have really helped. Most hospitals have programs that are generally free. I posted that Yale New Haven Hospital/ research department has a program starting / concerning weight control plus ? Call and get info I joined one a couple of years ago for smoking cessation. Really great. Not a bunch of lectures but helps with decision making - distraction techniques etc. People came in from all over Other option seek out another nutritionalist please .
