Today I am starting a new chapter in my life. I am putting myself here because I need help at loosing weight and im only 17. I am happy, but I can't wait to see what I look like after weight loss.

I am an emotional eater. If I am lonely or upset about something I find myself stuffing food in my mouth. This is most of the time something sweet but can also be comfort foods like potato salad, macaroni and cheese, rice & gravy. How do I learn to turn to something other than food when I am emotionally challenged?

Shasta, you recognize the problem, so you must learn to replace food with another reward. A walk, meditation, exercise. Each time you resist the urge to eat and replace it with something non-food related, you win. The first step is to stop and ask yourself " Will I feel better after I eat this?" Most likely, the answer will be no. Stop the cycle. It's not easy, but the pay off is a better you. 💪

Erquiaga, I loved your answer to Shasta, maybe it was meant for me. Do these messages get to the people we are writing to? I clicked on the button to follow you because I need your level headed advise. Thanks. I barely made it today after my husband was yelling at me, and he's in the hospital, no less. I walked through the cafeteria looking at all the pasteries but didn't have any.

I also have resisted the 12 layer chocolate cake that has stared at me the the kitchen at my work. I guess that I will have to take it one day at a time. When I get home I will either walk for 30 minutes or do a Pilates video.
