abbadabba's Journal, 20 March 2010

My mini-reunion went wonderfully! 17 people from the Class of 1975 (high school) attended the lunch today! It was lovely. People were so happy to be together.

I admit, I almost didn't want to go. I was embarassed at putting on so much weight! But we are all the same age, so everyone understood. I had a questionnaire as an icebreaker and it was really cute to see what people put for the one thing they did that they didn't think anyone else had done.

My diet begins in earnest today though - the class agent said it's time for a real reunion, with everyone, so I have til the fall to get a total closer to my high school weight. I weighed 110 when I graduated from high school but I haven't been back there since! After college I weighed 118, so maybe I'll shoot for that as my ultimate goal.

Right now, I am thinking I would like to lose 10 pounds by June 10th which is my daughter's graduation date. Now that the school play is over I am getting more focused. I think once my housekeeper is on board again (still doing hospice for the lady in town!) I'll be better, but obviously, I am NOT hoping that will be soon.

My daughter and I will be going to the Middle School Play - Fiddler on the Roof. The production is not as good as the high school's, but there are 135 kids in the cast so it's always phenomenal at how the middle school teacher gets them all on stage!

That's awesome that your reunion went well. I'm glad you decided to go. I love Fiddler on the Roof. I'm sure you will enjoy it. Hopefully your housekeeper will come back soon so you can get yourself back on track like you want to. Enjoy your Saturday night.

I like your goals - I feel exactly the same way! I wanted to be in the 130s when my son graduated but time is flying! 10 pounds would be great! Reunion sounds like fun - I haven't seen friends from high school in years... Good luck with your fresh start - hope we both get where we want to go!!

Sounds great Abba!! 5 pounds no matter how it happens is a major accomplishment. Isn't it wonderful to see highschool friends' faces after so many years?! We've embarked on our careers, married, raised our little ones, and now that they're "a bit" more independent we get some time to explore the world again and look up old acquaintances. Last June my daughter graduated and it was a very special time!! Does your daughter have her dress already? Lol. It's 80% about the dress.

Only fifty pounds left to get back to 110? Piece of cake abba. ;-)

Facing, my daughter will have a cap and gown - the dress is for the prom and she is making her own. My older daughter also got cap and gown - but she bought her dress so it was easy.

Hey abba ... That is a great goal and great ultimate goal! As long as you stay here with us on FS, we will all get there together! Have fun at the production.
