madaboutmoose's Journal, 28 February 2010

The sun is shining this Sunday ... very nice. We picked up mom yesterday evening from the airport and she is back home, safe and sound. She treated us to Mexican food on the way home ... I had an incredible shrimp dish made with cilantro and a cream sauce with mushrooms ... yum!!! Certainly not low calorie but whatever. It was good. I had a margarita too!! Then we shared sopapillas ... very tasty.

I didn't even get on the scale this morning. I have eaten a lot of stuff I don't typically eat this past week and I think I'll wait to weigh in for a few days as I get myself back in the swing of things. I did brave the elliptical today and did okay. My knee is still quite sore, not in the joint it is just a nasty rug burn. It does hurt to breathe deeply so I do think I probably bruised a rib at least. It will take time to heal and Pilates might be out for bit ... but at least I didn't break anything!!

Yesterday I was pretty much a slug. I even took a nap in the middle of the day. My body probably needed the rest. I didn't exercise. It has been a long time since I skipped exercise 2 days in a row. Feeling slightly panicked at the idea of weight gain which is part of the reason why I am not weighing right now. I know what to do and am doing it so that is what really matters. No sense in stressing myself out ... life happens and being up a few pounds only means that it will come back down. I'm going to see if I can keep my calories low today.

And so here we are at the close of February 2010. I hope everyone has enjoyed a restful weekend, a fun weekend, a rejuvenating weekend!! I would like to have March be less eventful and would like to see myself trim off a few pounds giving me a little more wiggle room for my Mexico trip!!! Take care everyone!!

Well, of course it is your choice, and you have to do what works for you; but, I really didn't want to record that 5.2 pound gain this morning either. In *my* case, I think it helps me to get right on it (if I leave it for later, it will become more difficult to get back down, and more painful). But, that's me. That sounds like it was quite a fall. Funny how our lives can change by a split second of "carlessness." I had a friend who left a shoe out in her bedroom, she woke up in the middle of the night and tripped on it in such a way, that it required surgery to her ankle, and she has never been pain free since (suffering). So, I would consider it a stern warning if I were you. Good that you paid for the delicious sounding shrimp and sopapillas (deadly with honey) with the elliptical, although I prefer the Pilates that you make mention of at times (or just straight Hatha). Be well...

Info ... I don't know what I gained because I didn't weigh!! LOL!! The ultimate denial tool!! I will likely weigh tomorrow and I will record it, sooner or later, because I do find that being honest with myself is the only thing that works for me!! Just taking today "off" so to speak. I am counting my blessings regarding the fall ... it was a nasty one to be certain. Did you read that Flaxseed fell too?? In a hurry to the loo ... same as me. Sometimes I think the 'togetherness' we share here is a bit much!! Fortunately she didn't injure herself too badly either.

I understand perfectly, we definitely need days off *from almost everything.* Yes, I did see that flaxseed also fell, poor thing. She's lucky she got away with it too. I have an Italian friend of mine in an intensive care center who broke his hip from a fall in the shower last week. Not really that old but not young either. How fragile our bodies are, how fragile life is...

Hi Moose! I don't think you are in denial, it sounds too pessimist to be "you". I prefer the idea that you need a couple of days off the power of the scale, off the worrying about the fluctuations. You still have time before your trip to Mexico, I'm sure you'll be back on track soon. Now it's time to heal from the fall and get your strenght back. Don't eat mexican food too often tough ;-)! Have a great and sunny sunday!

Aw come now jessyline ... don't eat Mexican food too often??? But it's my favorite!!! LOL!!! As I check in here I am fighting the urge to begin grazing my way through the kitchen. I'm not really all that hungry ... ugh ... I wish I didn't like food!! If I can hold off for a couple of hours then I can have dinner. Water. I'll drink some water. I'm feeling fairly well after the fall. Still hurts sometimes when I breathe deeply, the scrape on my knee is quite sore, and I am sporting a lovely bruise on my breast!! I guess it is a good thing I already had my annual check-up with my doctor or he might wonder what the heck I've been up to!!

Sounds as if you are using a similar rationale to what I use when I sort of let my house get a little dirty so that it will seem even CLEANER after I clean it. I do that with my hair on the weekends if I am going to stay in. I let it get somewhat "greasy." Then that first shampoo is wa la! Why am I telling you this? This is weird! Anyway. To rest and to be a -- what did you say -- a slug -- for one or two days will make the exercise that much sweeter! Right? Right! He-he-he-he-he-he!

Good Morning Moose. I missed your journal yesterday. Glad your mom is home safe and sound. What are sopapilla's. It sounds like something really good especially after reading Info's honey addition. I hope your rug burn goes away soon. Have a great day today.

Nothing wrong with a mid-day nap if you need it! I think my husband napped most of the weekend. He needed it. But so did I! ;P GLad the fall isn't turning out to be too serious. I think I could have used some of your sunshine yesterday. It was gray here and I let myself get into a dark mood. Sunny today though and I'm feeling Iike I've broken through. Plus, it's MARCH! Good riddance February!
