madaboutmoose's Journal, 17 February 2010

Morning has broken. We both slept well last night. Was difficult to drag ourselves out of bed this morning as we both returned to work today. I did "dare" to step on the scale briefly and of course it is up but not nearly so much as I thought. Today WILL BE and IS a healthy eating day ... no more cake for a bit!! I believe getting back on track will help me feel better ... but I did enjoy that sundae at Dairy Queen, and the double cheeseburger and chili fries at Del Taco!! No regrets, simply moving ahead.

MOTG asked about FIL's teeth. They are bad. That is why they need to be taken out. Apparently pig valves (what they use to replace bum heart valves in us humans) are quite suspectible to infection from bad teeth. Therefore the rest of his teeth must go. FIL has been in the process of having them yanked anyway and getting dentures. The good news for him is now that process is medically necessary and will be covered by his medicare.

Not much time this morning as duty is hollering at me. But I do want to quickly focus on what I have to be grateful for this morning ...

1. getting a splinter out of my thumb that has been there a couple of days (very sore right thumb ... OUCH!!)
2. a good night's sleep
3. being brave enough to step on the scale and not freaking out about the number
4. getting some of my personal piles of paperwork sorted and taken care
5. the realization that this time will pass and things will settle, eventually

Have a splendid day ... take care!!

That is awesome that your FIL dents will be paid for, they are so expensive. You might want to look into these new things called fixteeth, which are permenate denturs of some sort... something I saw on tv. I really have no idea if they are good or not but the commercial made it "look" good. A good nights sleep, YAY. Also, it is so important that the scale is not getting you down. I was reading this new book that said to also use the body fat percentage thing on the scale because you will see your bfp number go down even if the scale number stays the same- or even goes up a bit due to bloating. Interesting concept and I am going to test it out starting tomorrow morning. lol. Have a wonderful day Moose!

OMG we've each got a sore right thumb! Do you think you could stop your toilet swirling quite so much cos mine seems to be mirroring yours :)). Glad you had a good night's sleep last night. The effects of radio sometimes take quite some time to wear off, so its good that you've got a plan to deal with fake MIL. I didn't pluck up the courageto face the scale this morning....perhaps tomorrow

Glad to hear that your starting to get back to your regular routine - forgetting about the diet aspect, a regular routine is a great thing. Its also a good thing that your FIL will have everything covered by medicare - its all so expencive, I don't know how they expect people to afford the necessary things! Anyway, take a rest today, and do something for YOURSELF!!

You have a good day, too. That is indeed good news about the dentures. As we all know, those things are expensive. And it's so outrageous that those things are usually considered "cosmetic." Like, right, needing to eat is a cosmetic luxury! Making your five = being good to yourself.

Flaxseed ... I had forgotten you cut your thumb on a tin!!! Oh my goodness gracious ... are we twin sisters of different mothers or what??? I believe my toilet swirling is slowing a little today so hopefully yours will as well. And, while I did step on the scale it was not at the usual time I do it and I didn't write it down or anything I just noted that it DID NOT say 200 lbs (which I was sure it would) or even 190 lbs and went about the rest of my business of getting ready for work!! LOL!!

I saw that your FIL is temporarily out of the hospital to get what seems to be some fairly serious dental work done. I'm pretty sure that the hospital wouldn't allow that unless they were pretty sure it was the correct sequence although, I feel really bad for him. That can subject him to significant pain and discomfort. I hope they do it slowly. Anyway, it's good to know that the storm is past for the time being. Good job moose!

Info ... he has been in the process of having his teeth extracted and fitted for dentures BEFORE the heart attack. The only thing that has changed is now the removal of his old teeth is medically necessary due to the risk of infection they pose to his heart ... especially the new valves he will be getting with the open heart surgery. As for the sequence ... we aren't really confident we have the story straight yet ... his significant other is NOT a reliable source of information and FIL himself appears to be a bit confused lately ... part of the toilet swirling in our lives!!
