Another quick episode of "as the toilet swirls" brought to you by your insanely madaboutmoose ....

Another day is about to be flushed!!!

Bob asked to me to along for the ride to see his dad and get his own radiation treatment today so off we went ... left about 12:30 this afternoon and just got home.

The latest and greatest about his dad ... he is being discharged from the hospital tomorrow. They did the angiogram today. Not sure what they found as we didn't have an opportunity to talk with the doctor. According to his dad though (who is oft times confused these days) they want to pull the rest of his teeth before they do the open-heart surgery. They are sending him home for 2-3 weeks on blood thinners and then will schedule him for oral surgery and the chest cracking on the same day. Bob's uncle will pick him up tomorrow from the hospital and hopefully will get the full story from the nurses at discharge.

We avoided dealing with fake MIL today. Bob did talk to her on the phone a couple of times to arrange dad's transportation home. Bob and I are very much on the same page about how to proceed with dealing with her ambivalent, deceitful self. We'll do what we can and no more. We trust nothing she says and we'll be diligent to keep our expectations reasonable so we aren't thrown for such a loop when she behaves badly.

Bob has just 8 more days of radiation left. 3 days this week and 5 next and he'll be finished. So, it looks like the heart surgery fiasco will happen after radiation is done ... that will be good. I imagine my FIL could still end up with another heart attack or health crisis in the interim and we'll just have to cross those bridges if and when we get to them.

I did really good with eating until this evening!! LOL!!! We stopped at Del Taco on the way home and I ate a hamburger and chili-cheese fries!!! Then ... Bob pulled into a Dairy Queen about half way home. I had myself a waffle-cone turtle sundae!! Certainly not the healthiest of cuisine (if you can really refer to Del Taco and Dairy Queen as cuisine at all) but it was good. Bob is feeling relieved that his dad will be home and maybe he can make it through this last week and a half of radiation without additional turds swirling around in our toilet bowl of life. LOL!!

Flaxseed, my dear friend on the other side of the world is struggling with her own swirling toilet. My heart goes out to her and separately together, with all of our fatsecret buddies from here to there joining our cyber hands via the internet we'll hang in there ... and live to have more health and calorie conscious days in the near future (those when we don't dread the thought of seeing what our scales might read).

In the midst of all this ... to hear my husband tell me that I am his "rock" ... "the only thing that matters" to him, what keeps him "sane in an insane world" ... reminds me how fortunate that we both are ... to have each other to count on. I haven't felt particularly sane lately but we are still plodding along ... and will continue to do so.

Sigh. Tomorrow is another day. At least I think I won't be going to a hospital tomorrow!!! Have a good night my friends. Thank you for your continued support and encouragement!!!

You have had a rough day. At least you don't have to go to the hospital tomorrow. That Dairy Queen sounds really good to me right now. I would love a gooey sundae. I hope you enjoyed it. Try to get some good rest tonight. Maybe have a nice stiff drink to help you sleep, take a bath and forget about the world if only for a few hours. It will do you good.

Life is like swimming through peanut butter sometimes. Keep dog paddling Kiddo! That old adage that says, "This too shall pass," rings true. I am glad your father-in-law is coming home. I am also glad YOU get to stay home tomorrow. MUCH LOVE.

I know there is some stupid joke about a man who goes to the doctor and says my finger hurts and the doctor whacks him on the knee and says that should take your mind off your finger....some odd weird blessing in disguise perhaps is the crisis with your FIL is allowing the radiation sessions maybe to pass a bit under the radar since they can no longer be the full focus and SOON they will be over completely...and then spring will be here, flowers in bloom and salads galore when you aren't as needy of tacos and dairy queen....

So glad you won't be going to the hospital tomorrow and, as always, that you have a such a great marriage to lean on. Hope tomorrow is a bit of a respite from the crazy!

Sharon - My mom used to do that to me. I hated it. Anyway, I'm so happy that Bob is almost done with his radiation, it will be a huge load off both of you. Why does FIL have to get his teeth pulled before surgery - are they rotted?? As far as fake MIL, like I always say, just take that lady with a grain of salt. Decide between you and Bob what will happen, and then TELL her, don't ASK. Have a good night sleep, and feel better in the morning!

Good thoughts here. Sharon is so right in saying that this will at least allow those final radiation days to pass maybe a little more quickly. EVen though you know that Bob feels that way about you, it must have felt good to hear the words. Enjoy your day at home.
