BuffyBear's Journal, 12 February 2012

Found out I am really affected by the weather. Cold winds blew in a nasty change of weather yesterday and I responded by snacking all day. Didn't eat anything unhealthy - just ate enough for two people. Have not one to blame but myself.

One good thing - I bought a variety of fresh vegetables yesterday (cost be damned) so will be feeding us well today.

So, this week I will be starting over again. This is getting old.

You are not alone, I find that cold weather affects my eating habits as well. 18 degrees here with blowing and drifting snow and I am fighting the urge to not eat everything in the house. Stay strong! I bought a lot of veggies too. Isn't it expensive to eat healthy? I can't wait for the public market to open up (many months away). I made a dip with Greek yogurt which helps with the calories and gives me the illusion that I am snacking like I used to with chips and "fat full" dip. I just need to make sure I portion the dip so that I don't eat the whole bowl in one sitting. Good Luck!

yum on the fresh vegetables. isn't the cost of healthy eating ridiculous? small price to pay at the end of the day, i think. it's a new day, buffy. have a great day.

Gabbie - Thanks for the suggestion - veggie "chips" and dip needs to be made and put out to easy access. For warmth I've been drinking herb tea all morning.

Heather - It is hard to fork over the money but I do know the benefits. It helps knowing that exactly two months from today I'll be out planting my garden.

hey - you didn't gain, so be proud about that! once this shit weather breaks i'm sure we'll all be more active instead of hiding under the covers (well, that's what i do!) you'll get this, no worries. keep on keepin' on :)

Push on through, Buffy. You KNOW you can do this! Go radical...think of one, oddball, goofy, totally unexpected thing and go do it this week. Could be as simple as walking at 8PM (in a safe place, of course) and locating some constellations in the night sky. Maybe find a place that offers a simple intro yoga session, or a pottery class??? Perhaps a massage? Take a bath with a lot of candles and a whole lot of rubber duckies??? Whatever it is, just go for it....give it a try, even if you never, EVER do whatever it is again. Just for a short while, take the drudgery out of "starting over" and keep your life an adventure!

A garden. How nice. That's a luxury to apartment dwellers in the City. But at least I can look forward to the local farmers markets.

Keep at it Buffy. Winter won't last forever, and you are so right about the money for food... healthy things are a lot more expensive but oh so worth it. Here's to new beginnings!

Buffy, you had no gains...that is a win in my book! Glad you got some veggies for today. As for the weather and snacking...some types of weather just make me want to snack also...today it is snowing, and all I can think about is homemade chocolate chip cookies and hot cocoa! lol Have a great day, my friend!
