Update on my big decision about adding a fire place to my house. We're proceeding with converting a porch to a sunroom and decided to dig out an old stove that we had mothballed 27 years ago. It cleaned up beautifully! It's a Vermont Castings older model Resolute stove. So cute. We had it professionally installed, and tonight I lit the first fire. I'm enchanted. It brought back so many memories of my younger self in an earlier phase of my life. It was our first major purchase in our fixer-upper first house. We dug deep for it and heated our house with it for six years. Then we moved and it didn't work in the next house, but here we are reviving it for our empty-nester house. It's a big improvement as we've had no fire place here. It's set in the new sunroom which has water views of the Connecticut River. The room is still under construction, but when it's done, I'll post a picture. A crackling fire and a beautiful view....... it's going to be a Merry Christmas! (and in our house, also a Happy Chanukah)!
