I've not been eating well. Time to get back on track. I find myself slipping into OLD habits ... old unhealthy habits of eating and eating and eating without being hungry. Not sure why ... but it needs to stop and it needs to stop right now because I am starting to be unkind to myself. That is a sure sign of trouble. So today I am back on track ... and I want to really be good to myself between now and Thanksgiving so I will be able to truly enjoy my indulgences on that day without remorse.

Today I am grateful for ...

1. the awareness that I am slipping into unhealthy patterns and caring enough about myself to refocus
2. where I live ... it is so beautiful!!
3. my job ... the flexibility is so nice!!
4. my wonderful, beautiful, kind, and caring mother ... I am so blessed.
5. just enough snow to make everything sparkly ... but not difficult to drive in!!

My friends ... I am also so grateful for this site and all of you. It could be so easy for me to slip back into what I used to do ... and being here ... hearing about your journeys ... knowing I am definitely not alone in my struggles has made this time so different. If I could give you each a big bear hug I would!! I hope you are all well and taking good care of yourselves ... have a great day!

Glad you are recognizing. It is so easy to eat and do unhealthy things. It is comfortable to slip back...we are such comfort creatures are we not?

Yes it is easy to slip back into what is comfortable but I don't think you will, atleast not for any real length of time. You have shown that you can win the battle. My hope for all of us is that our "NEW" comfort is being healthy and active!!

I like your comment Wintergirl!! I think that actually is my "NEW" comfort and why I feel so crappy at the moment. Fortunately I have exercised still ... everyday ... and all is not lost ... thanks for your input ... it is so appreciated!!

Awareness is the primary "fat secret." That attention to your own body and your own well being will serve you well. Good job at caring enough to recognize what is going on.

I'm in the same boat as you. It's SO easy to slip back the old habits, isn't it? Being aware and not letting it get too far is the ticket to success. Good that you're aware of it and that you're getting things under control. :) Bear hugs back to you!!!! :-)

I think I could have written the first part of your journal as well. It seems that since I've hit my goal weight, I have been lazier and feel that I can eat anything again. I've been to steak houses, Mexican restaurants, and have also been baking up a storm of high-calorie foods! That is definitely back to my old pattern. I read your journal and it inspired me to go upstairs on the treadmill INSTEAD of bake a pumpkin pie. (ummm...not to say that I won't later...LOL!) I need to get focused again.
