by water fast, do you mean you drink only water for 3 weeks? If you are trying to lose weight and get healthy a juice fast might be a better approach. Water has no nutrients so your body will not the fuel it needs. By drinking only water, you will lose muscle as well as water weight. When you lose muscle, you slow your metabolism and when its time to eat again, you will be back in that cycle again. The more muscle you have, the more calories you burn at rest, the more weight you can lose and the more easily maintaining weight becomes. I wish you luck with whatever you choose though.

Thank you for the wishes......Juice is fructose so it would not help me to lose the weight and heal my body as I need to burn the fructose/sugar/fat that is stored in my body ....I will not lose muscle iny ketosis as my body rests it is using all the energy from the stored fats to detox and heal my body especially my lungs....

It sounds like it might be a big challenge for you to stay away from smoking and food at the same time. While I am unsure if a water-only diet is good for a body, I am hoping you researched your decision and are smart about it. I am just hoping that staying away from smoking AND food at the same time is not too much for you. It can be very disheartening to not be able to take on huge goals we set for ourselves. It sounds like a lot, all at once. But I'm sure you know how your body works and what works for you, so I'll be cheering for you.

I'm all about support on this page, but to be honest with you, you are setting yourself up for failure. Even people experienced in fasting don't go for 21 days without supervision from a professional. Especially while doing something like quitting smoking. You will hurt yourself. Or fail quickly and then feel guilty. To heal yourself and to get through the really tough period of quitting smoking (and trust me, I've been there, I understand how difficult it is), you need to nourish yourself with fresh, nutrient rich foods and get plenty of exercise to relieve stress.

I agree with everyone. Smoking and fasting are huge challenges and at the same time it doesn't seem fair to you or your body. My opinion is you need to be gentle on yourself, maybe use tools to help like Nicorette and then diet instead of fast. Congrats for being here, in the right place, all you can do is your best.

Thank you everyone with your comments and fear....I have researched this and am giving up three things in my life that i overindulge in Food, fags and alcohol for 21-28 to give my body the best detox and repair ever....This is the first time I have tried to go cold turkey and am loving it .....Having only a water consuption is breaking all my old traditions of food and fags and drinks and i do not have any pangs (madness as I smoked 60 a day and at least a bottle of red) .....I feel great at work today and looking forward to my weigh in at 8pm tonight

I have nothing against keto, I know many people have a lot of success with it. But starving yourself for a month isn't what keto is.

I am not starving myself as I have alot of stored fat that needs to be burned up , hence I do not feel hungry ....when you burn your processed stored fat it contains all the vits and minerals and energy for the day and your little guys instead of working on your food intake are spring cleaning your body.....I will only starve when I get to 7-9% of body fat left and there is a long way to go for that....Water we cannot live without.....
