A super cookbook!!! I have only tried one recipe but it's amazing and I've read about half of it so far!! "How to Cook Everything Fast" Mark Bittman, I also bought his "Food Matters" the same day. He only does from scratch cooking, no relying on processed food. This one breaks down every recipe in the nearly 1000 pages into ways to speed up cooking. It works from what I've tried to night. I should have had hot soapy water in my sink, the dishwasher emptied, and the prep dishes would be done also making clean up really easy as he recommends.

Now those of you who know me I have lots and lots of cookbooks, over 500, and love love to cook, and I only recommend one now and then. Bittman is an expert but I like to add a bit of extra spice to his directions most of the time, I like things bold! This one I will follow his prep and ways of doing things and I should get better at getting meals done quickly. Dinner was yummy!!

One fitsecret 15 minute workout today another 20 min one in my plans once dinner is eaten, I need to get my planks in and some ab/core work, yet tonight. Then off to bed, everyday this week I think will be long and trying at work.

Sounds like cooking (along with your workouts) is a way that you unwind . . . great that you've discovered some 'shortcuts' so you can enjoy the fruits of your labor that much sooner and with a little less effort! Funny, I met a friend for a trail wog earlier this evening and she was talking about having a ton of bananas left over (she had to supply drinks and snacks for her son's cross-country team this weekend) and throwing them out and I immediately thought of your pureeing and freezing yesterday and passed that tip onto her next time she faces that predicament!

You know, I bought his book "How to Cook Everything" revised. The FAST one is sounding better and better. I usually get in the kitchen and clean out the dishwasher first .... put some things in there and get the counters all cleaned up before I begin prepping everything. I do love putting the dirty prep pots and pans and bowls in there while everything is cooking. Then I just have to put in the dirty dishes and last pan used and turn the dishwasher on. I have done this for years. SO, I am dying to know ... what did you make for dinner? I haven't even used his book yet. LOL! Tonight I made a beef veggie soup from leftover roast beef and leftover veggies in the fridge and veggies from the garden. It was really good ... better then usual, or I was just starved for veggies. LOL!

Leigh, I puree fruit as it starts getting ripe and put it in those little bathroom dixie cups freeze on a tray, pop them into a freezer bag. So handy for smoothies. It works great if you have leftover fruit salad also, I make mine with a bit of yogurt dressing so perfect to add to smoothies. You can do the same with leftover veggies.

Mom, white beans with sausage, greens and garlic, not much meat 1 Italian chicken sausage in about 6 servings, a pound of kale, 3 cups of white beans I used mayo coba (they are Mexican) ones that I cooked on Sunday. Beans only take a few minutes of paying attention to if you use a pressure cooker. I added just a teaspoon of pesto I made over the weekend that I left the cheese out of so topped my serving with some fresh grated parm. YUM!! Pesto; fresh thai basil, cashews, and olive oil. Just takes a minute in the processor, I don't use pine nuts allergic to them so any nuts or sunflower seeds work well. With no cheese it keeps for several months in the frig. My dishwasher doesn't like to get things dry so I'm forever opening it up to let dishes dry, they were still wet when I made dinner as it ran while I was at work. Now to put the recipe in the cookbook so I can log it. I have his How to Cook Everything Vegetarian and love it. This one is interesting because of the strategies he includes. I used to be a pretty fast cook between kids and restaurants, no more I dawdle.

Leigh, I love to cook and play with new foods. I have somewhere over 500 cookbooks and I keep buying more, never at full price usually clearance. This one was an expensive one for me $15.00 list is something like $40.

WFN that sounds so delicious! See, I would love that! The hubs? I am not so sure. I haven't been able to get him to eat anything but spinach so far. Wonder if he would know the difference? LOL! He is not a fan of beans, either, except for baked beans.

You can use any greens, it's hard to get good spinach here so I now use a lot of kale and oriental greens.
