abbadabba's Journal, 26 July 2009

This morning I was reading the journals here and thinking: Only you can prevent forest fires, er, prevent food going into your body that is bad for you! and lo and behold, my newspaper had a story about Smokey the Bear! I read the obituaries - people my age, two of them, died over the past week - yikes! I don't think that 51 is all that old! But we are all at an age to get cancer, even babies, so there is another reason to watch what we eat and get some exercise.

What part of the paper do you read? I read the funnies, the obituaries, the real estate section, and the metro section which had news about the towns in my county (Middlesex Massachusetts). I find it fascinating to read about people who have lead lives worthy of full-size articles on the obituary pages, even though most are written by their families. I remember when my grandmother died - the newspaper printed what we sent them about her. I used to read the wedding pages too, but these days the announcements are only printed occasionally, and I can't figure out the system. Definitely, I also read every recipe that the newspaper prints. Once in a while I will read the front section with national news.

Best news of the day though: down down down - 161! Next week maybe I will break into the 150's. Good luck everyone!
