My daughter got her learners permit today! Yay! Yikes! Scary. My baby, driving! Made me think: we take driving lessons, we practice driving with an instructor, we have to have hours of practice and months of practice to get our drivers licenses. And you have to follow the rules every day that you drive if you want to keep your license and not kill anyone. What if we had to do the same for eating? Practice, practice, practice. Watch what you eat and follow the limits so you don't kill yourself.

I have a friend whose husband is 400 pounds and can't lose the 50 that he has to in order to get gastric banding - and I think of Mr. Splendidhammer who has the same start weight and how hard he works. It can be done. My 50 pounds overall is the same thing: so overwhelming! How can I be this fat? How can I ever lose this stupid fat? I keep picturing my 7 pounds of butter lined up, gone - wow! Started walking and jumping rope today on breaks at work so I can see 20 more pounds gone by my birthday in October. Now that I know how to do it, I have no excuse - look out, my chart is going to start dropping like the Dow Jones average!!!!

I love the drivers' training analogy. Makes perfect sense. My husband teaches physical education and driver education. This position requires immense patience! Say! The visualization you describe wherein you imagine tubs of butter lined up is an AWESOME strategy. It really works. When I walk - I think of my muscles "heating up" and "melting" globs of butter on my body. Any kind of visualization you can do will work wonders. Also - the jump rope is great for all-over-the-body-exercise. You are doing GREAT! I am proud of you Kiddo!

400 lbs - wow, thats a lot. But being that large, he should be able to lose weight easier/faster than someone smaller. If he wants to put the effort in, he should be able to do it 1 2 3. If you feel comfortable with it, you should offer to help him out - offer to be losers together! Inspire him!

My heart goes out the man who has to lose 400 pounds. I would be so overwhelmed. I don't seem to be able to lose the small amount I am working on. I wish him the best with his journey. I also like your analogy, the drivers permit versus eating. You weight loss chart looks so great.
