cindylynnwho's Journal, 29 May 2022

With little time to run before work, I mixed it up and ran a mile somewhat speedily rather than 3-6 miles more slowly. Of course speed is relative, but it was nice to check “running” instead of “jogging” in the FS exercise diary, and also nice to see my garmin watch log 2.0 anaerobic points in addition to it logging aerobic points as usual. I will be adding these shorter speedier runs to my routine, although next time I will go earlier so I can log at least two miles.

Diet Calendar Entry for 29 May 2022:
1605 kcal Activities & Exercise: Walking (exercise) - 3.5/mph - 25 minutes, Running - 6/mph - 10 minutes, Resting - 15 hours and 25 minutes, Sleeping - 8 hours. more...

Thanks Asarver! Do you have different speeds/lengths etc that you do?

I do, I've actually really grown to like the speedwork (I used to hate it) 😄 I make sure to do one long run a week, like 9+ miles. I do 1 or 2 easy/recovery runs of 2 or 3 miles at a nice relaxed pace. I've been doing 400m sprint repeats once a week in preparation for my 5K, I'll probably change it to once every other week for a little while to give me a break 😬 then I do 1 or 2 easy mid distance runs of 50-60 min. I try to target one of my easy short runs in a low BPM range, <=140, the other easy runs I aim for <=153. My long run I normally don't pay attention because I'm going for distance, but I don't sprint it either. What kind of runs do you like to do? 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️🏃

Sounds like a good plan Asarver. I started out just working up to 5k and then worked up to 10k. But I don’t have time to do 10k every time so I’ve been running less and still trying to figure out the best routine. I’m just figuring out how to incorporate speed work and I don’t want to lose the long distance ability either so I ought to put longer runs back in. I am not fast, though I used to be faster when I was closer to your age and it would be cool to get faster.

That's awesome you got up to a 10k! That's a lot of work 😄 don't feel like you have to run a 10k every time you run! Thats a good way to wear yourself out. Have you checked out garmin's training plans? Since you can run a 10k, it might be worth signing up for the 10k training program not so much to run a race (unless you wanted) but to get introduced to different kinds of runs! 🙂 keep up your good work!

Thank you Asarver! I used to run 5k and 10k with my dad as a child/teen so I wanted to get back up to 10k at least. Not sure if I want to go farther or not yet. But Using the garmin training plan is a good idea either way. Thanks! Just got a garmin and love it so far. I have a forerunner 245, what about you?

Aw that's a nice memory 😄 I have the fenix 5s! I used to have Polar watches but this one was at a nice price on black Friday year before last, and I'm so glad I switched. There's just so much functionality the Garmin have over Polar. I just didn't want to lose all my historical data but hope useful is it anyways 😆

Ooh a fenix 5s! Nice! I had a polar a long time ago. I recently switched from amazfit. My amazfit was nice enough but the features on the garmin are so cool and helpful
