Great article about cholesterol and plaque . PLAQUE really does NOT go away when you lower your LDL. What you can do is prevent it from getting worse. I have participated in hundreds of cardiac Caths , athrectomys, and angioplasties . I could give a long lecture on this subject but this is a good article and will explain the basics if anyone wants to know. There are also lots of great videos on the internet that shows the whole procedure from start to finish . Both animated and actual procedures. Fascinating stuff.

I assume you posted this in response to my comment on this topic on another members post. My score was 19. Moderate risk of future heart issues. 70% of people my age and sex have the same or lower score. The numeric scale the test provides gives a reference for scores up to and over 400. No doctor would do a cath or angio procedure on me at my level. But I want to be on the range of below 10. Lowering LDL to 70 or lower is shown to "shrink" the plaque deposits to make them smaller which basically reduces the severity of the plaque buildup. I always take a deep breath when people keep referencing just improved cholesterol numbers when it is the plaque build up (which never goes away but can be reduced) that is the real issue. Most people I know have never heard of the scan I mentioned which is more important than lab work. You can build up plaque even when you are in the normal range. Good post.

PS. That score was from almost 3 years ago. Will have it again in March 2023. At that time I think my results will indicate that I am at a low risk and be on the right side of the percentages. Thanks

There’s nothing noninvasive that can decrease plaque?

I thought I read somewhere that getting moving and being active can help reduce it, but I could be wrong.
