HK3's Journal, 22 December 2021

Based on the struggles I see here this is a very valid performance management observation of the behaviors of dieters as well as workers.

“As a rule, when somebody "can't" do something, it's because he or she lacks the skill to do it; when somebody "won't" do something, it's because he or she lacks the will to do it.”

There are many “won’t” people here. Sad.

There is no excuse for being a “can’t” person if you’ve been on this site and/or others and you know what you should be doing. You have to be a “can” and “will” person to succeed. That’s all.

You're approach is the hard part of eating healthier and kicking bad habits that a lot of people don't won't to acknowledge. I think we need "good cop, bad cop" Because everyone reacts and responds differently to each one. Some need the aggressive push, just as some like the coddling approach. I saw what you said to another member about her dieting and gaining 22 lbs [no name needed] but what you said is right. I think everyone has to be honest with themselves. Unfortunately that's not the case. This app is just like FB and Twitter some people are just putting what they think others want to see or hear to fit in. Ultimately it's their loss as they're not really improving their health or life overall. What some have to realize is just being nice and saying the right things won't help the one's who need to be pushed. I still stand by there's a right and wrong way to say everything. Perception plays a large role in this. Just be sure you're coming from the heart to help other's. So they don't take everything as an attack.

Joe I’m a musician…I play guitar and sing. Over the years I’ve played many open mic nights…you’ve all seen this…a singer songwriter gets up on stage and he/she is terrible, just terrible. As they exit the stage folks start saying, “ Good job up there” “Nice song, buddy” “Way to go” etc…. They’re all lying and giving false hope to the unfortunate talentless performer. I understand being polite, but I’m the guy who will tell them to keep their day job. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I motivated myself that way. Saw this sack of crap in the mirror and told him some truth.

I have trouble with both can't and won't. We are so very human.
