madaboutmoose's Journal, 04 May 2009

I'm experimenting with weighing in weekly. I still am weighing daily but not recording it here ... just at home in my old fashioned journal. I figured it was a good compromise. I'm not ready to give up my morning conversations with Frank but I am ready to work on adjusting to a different way of tracking myself. I'll see how it goes.

I am doing well with my self-talk after my weekend out. Today I am feeling positive about my ability to maintain this loss and to continue on my journey. Not that I won't have panic moments, I imagine I will, but I am doing okay right now. Everyone has their own way of handling "real life" with food. I will discover my path. I like what girlygirl and so many others have said about asking myself what I will truly enjoy as I venture out. There have been so many times I have eaten just to eat and not really enjoyed myself. It goes along with paying attention to true hunger cues.

On the exercise front I finally tried my pilates video. Oh good grief I am rather uncoordinated and clumsy!!! I felt like a damn fool!!! I liked it though. I could feel the places in my body that need the stretching. My husband suggested Tai Chi. He said he would do it with me!! So I might look for a DVD we can follow. He did it many years ago as a part of his martial arts training. He says it will help with balance and overall strength. Any input?

I hope that today finds all of you feeling well, ready to face your day and full of kindness towards yourself. At the moment the sun is shining and that is quite welcome!! We've had some rainy, cloudy, windy blustery days here. Each ray of sunshine is very welcome this time of year.

You are at 191.8! That is awesome. I have always wanted to stick to "one day" to weigh in per week. I never have been able to do so, mentally but having another place to jot the number down is a GREAT idea! Congrats on pilates.

Thanks Deana!! The congrats on pilates might be premature ... you would have been rolling on the floor with laughter if you could have seen me. My clumsiness combined with the dog trying to sniff me and figure out what the heck mom was doing on the floor was pretty entertaining!! I have been encouraged by many to move to a one day a week weigh-in. I'll see how it goes. I really want to find a new rhythm for life ... one where I find that balance between watching what goes in my mouth and being an obsessed, diet crazed woman!! LOL!!! My life's journey!! At least I know I have excellent company!!

You will have an exercise buddy, that is so important because it keeps you both aware and if one whines about doing it for one reason or another the other one becomes the cheerleader, it is a win-win situation. Good for him for that kind of support. He deserves a big hug. :-).

Its cool to see you venturing toward that one day a week thing. I believe we should all exercise like kids...I have never seen a young kid worry about how they look while they exercise..or for that matter when they try anything new. Do what you can do now...work on what you can't, get better every day. Best Jim
