Dear ripsic, is that you in your profile pic??? That distracted me for a moment. Back to ab exercise… yes I will add hollow holds and dead bugs, for the names are inducing melancholy, thus adding poetry in those otherwise prosaic activities. Why are sit ups waste of time? I am good at doing those😭

Anne thank you, I’ll add bicycle crunches! I welcome any ideas, as my shoulder injury is preventing me to perform the majority of workouts right now.
Working out is very new to me, I lack necessary knowledge and I can’t just go solo. Needed visual guidance, you know. Visuals do help, as I believe maintaining the correct form is important. Or so I was told in elementary school🤣

Paula, I was only looking at apps because some people seem to like them a lot, without realizing that almost all of these apps require subscription! I also don’t own a functioning TV😂😂 so I can’t watch YouTube exercise clips and do workouts at the same time. I will write my routine on a sheet of paper as you suggested.

Petra, I’ll add standing bike crunches, thank you for the idea. This is an Egyptian kazak, which is rare. Egyptian wool is very soft.

Yep, it's me as of Friday. Was going to post flex Friday however didn't really like any pics... I feel I'm lacking definition and look a bit fleshy.. "fluffy" would be an apt feeling.... lol.
I'm with Anne, standing crunches are great as are leg and knee raises!
As far as sit ups, it's hard to do them "correctly" without engaging mostly hip flexor and also putting stress on the lower lumbar vertebrae. Having back issues, I avoid them. There are so many other exercises that I feel give more bang for the buck so to speak. But, as with anything, your mileage may vary... 😁

ripsic… how much more definition do you want? Your photo looks amazing. Anyway I did give standing crunches a try. It was sort of too easy and I didn’t feel anything.… am I doing it wrong? Granted, I am still quite bendy for my age. We also do similar movements in aquatic class.

As far as standing crunches, for me, it's a mind/body connection thing. You don't think about bending your body for your abs to follow, you think about contracting the core/abs forcing your body to bend... maybe Anne can describe that better than I.

Your rug is beautiful. When I was in Turkey I fell in love with Turkish rugs, I wanted all of them. LOL! 🌞

Leg Raises + Planks + Crunches = ABS. Add Reps and/Resistance Every Workout. Planks are not to be ditched, if possible. Try Elbow Planks. Harder on the Abs and Much Easier on the Arms and Shoulders. Hopefully you can adjust your elbow position for shoulder happiness. Add DIET for Visible Abs. Apps, etc. = Fuckarounditis. #rippedluddites

PS - And here's a bit of intellectual pretension for you... Ned Lud and the Luddite movement DID NOT EXIST. That entire story we all learned in school was manufactured from whole cloth, a propagandistic fabrication of Industrial Revolution elites designed to rally public opinion in support of pro-manufacturing labor policy and demonize the opponents of child labor and other industry excesses. The story was promoted relentlessly by the London media of the day whose efforts were so effective that a full century later kids were taught that shit in school as gospel truth. Thank the gods that today that sort of nonsense has been torn out root and branch by the good people at CNN, YT, and FB, and that we have real leaders in business and government committed to truth, American values, and our common good, even if it entails the occasional momentary abstention from immediate profit.

Fleur, how blessed you are! I’d love to visit Turkey and I’d spend every single day looking at rugs. Anatolian rugs, kilims😍 Turkish rugs are my favorite.

ripsic you explained it well. Let the abs follow. I kept that in mind and this time it was better. Thanks!

Kenna, at first I was not crazy about the color scheme of this rug but I bought it because I liked the peacocks 🦚 The funny thing is though, if a rug is good it grows on you.

Jimmie, my plan is:
Dead bugs & flutter kicks as warm up
Knee-elbow crunches x 4 sets
Leg raises x 4 sets
Elbow plank & hollow hold
😂😂 don’t laugh, I may not know what I’m talking about, but I have to start somewhere. I feel that I already do a lot of standing crunches in my aquatic class.

I didn’t grow up in US so I didn’t know anything about Ned Ludd. As a matter of fact I learned the word “Luddite” only a few years ago. I’m in a mood to berate technology for a minute. Technology made us accessible to our employers and clients 24/7, and I deeply resent that. My boss and patients text me or email me even when I’m off duty. I spent the entire July, day and night including during my beach trip, responding to my client’s cry for help. I don’t get compensated for that and I think it’s wrong. This month I decided not to turn on my work phone unless I get paid for even looking at it.

Thank you for listening to my gripe.

ajf, good for you too. What I hate about YouTube workout clips is though, they talk damn too much before they get to the exercise! And the music is cheesy. I’m such a brat.
