Most of the following is not food or exercise related. If you dont like that, then please scroll on by.

@Lonnie- Some reciprocal pictures for you to enjoy of my camping trip! Taken with my phone so... they dont translate well to FS.

Been super busy the past week or so. Im technically on vacation, but Ive really just done a lot of work at home haha. Our city picks up bulk garbage twice a year (which is part of our garbage service) so weve been "saving" things to go out. Now weve decided to add some big things to go with it like our couch and bookcase etc... Its hot as HELL here and we dont have AC in the main part of our home so its been real.

My kid wanted to go fishing on the 4th so we went! I was so excited since I havent been there in forever. We saw this cute box turtle swimming and she got worried that we might catch it, in which I famously replied - Ive NEVER caught a turtle while fishing. Guess what...yup I caught the turtle. Then we spent the longest 5 minutes of my life trying to get the hook out - all the while being traumatized by the turtle who was bleeding and my kid freaking out. I guess thats being a parent though - doing things you want someone else to do. So after I got the hook out and returned the little guy to the water, we pulled in my kids line and I was like - oh look theres a fish on it (ridiculously tiny fish were all we caught) but when she tried to pull it in, on the barbie pole she insisted on using at 12 yrs old, it was so heavy and she got freaked out and wouldnt finish bringing it in. Im like - its FINE its probably just seaweed or whatever. So I pulled the line up and guess what. AN EVEN BIGGER TURTLE WAS ON IT. Luckily, it was just going after the fish and let go but we packed up and got out after that.

BUT, we decided that we needed to go camping out there so we went on Monday and stayed the night. I have a bajillion bites on my ankles and Ive been hopped up on benedryl to try to keep the itch out. We found out that some of our buns were moldy so I had them sitting at the end of the picnic table and wouldnt you know it? A raccoon, bold as day, came over and stole them. It was really pretty funny though. The next morning we decided we were done so we went back to the turtle spot to leave an offering of strawberries in apology for the trauma. My kid made a sign to leave too. I wish I had a pic of it, it was pretty sweet. Plus we saw two baby dear wading in the lake.

Also- I made THE BEST bacon cheeseburger Monday night for dinner. Thats something I dont usually let myself enjoy. Then Tuesday I made french toast and bacon over the fire and holy crap it was delicious! Seriously, do I need to cook over a fire in scortching weather to make sure good food??

All in all, it was a disaster but I am thankful for the memories we made on the trip. Heres some pictures of our trip.

I agree with Katsolo. My first thought was, "Don't eat the turtle!". :)

Awesome, awesome pictures! I especially love the sunset (or sunrise) picture. So beautiful! That breakfast looks fantastic too! I really enjoyed reading your story about your camping trip. I love that your daughter had such empathy for the turtle. So sweet! Getting back to nature may not be diet related, but it's so good for your soul, I think. There must be many health benefits in getting outdoors, reduced stress, lower blood pressure for instance, so your post is health related. Thanks for thinking of me too. That touched my heart. ❤

No turtles were harmed in the making of this post. Oops. Yes they were. Lol. At least it wasn't a goose. A buddy caught one with a flyrod. They're mean suckers.

That looks like a grand time to me. I loved the story and I do know how kids can be. We truly try to protect their innocence. I though all that was so sweet. The pictures really are great. That food OMG brings back memories of some of my camping ⛺️ trips. I haven’t been in years. I for one did enjoy it.

Thanks all! It was a good time, even with all the hitches haha. Im grateful to have made those memories with my kid. @Lonnie- That was a sunset pic, I wish it came out clearer here because it was really beautiful. It only looked that way from that spot though, if you got closer to the lake, the orange went away. Pretty cool! @one.point.0 - LOTS of geese around here and you aint kidding - mean as sin!😂
