Decided to fix up around the roses so I moved all those bricks from our trees to the roses. We went to Lowe’s and picked up some weed barrier fabric and some pine nuggets. Then hubby and the kids brought up the rest of the bricks to use around the bushes lining the porch. Only took about 2-2.5 hours including the trip to town. Also trimmed up the rose bushes and the oldest and hubby dig up two dead bushes for me. We also had to rip up the old fabric that didn’t work and dig all the grass out.

Hubby’s back and elbow were hurting and I really didn’t feel like going to the gym after all that so we skipped tonight. Stupid Apple Watch says only 1 minute of all that was exercise lol.

Middle kiddo came to tell me good night and I saw she had been crying and was hiding her face. Seems the oldest convince her to let the oldest use my eyebrow trimmer to shape her eyebrows. No biggie right? Wrong. She shaved 1/4” off the inside of one eyebrow and made it half as thick as the other one. I did what I could to even it up and now the middle kinda likes it. Just thankful the oldest didn’t accidentally shave the whole thing off. They are 14 & 11. What a way to end the day lol.

That looks beautiful! Glad you could control the damage with your daughter's eyebrow! My older sister once cut my hair ... shorter and shorter. Never trusted her to do that again. I should have been wiser because I was a few years older than your oldest daughter :)

It looks nice and I love yellow roses. I really need to buy some one day. I missed your posts!

Me too! My middle is super sensitive so this could’ve really gotten to her for days. I made jokes about it and let her know it’ll grow back in a few weeks and all was well. They made a deal: if the oldest messed up then the middle got to shave her eyebrows off. I wouldn’t let her do that since the oldest has pictures coming up. Of course she knew her younger sister wouldn’t be mean enough to do it but she threatened to lol. Kids! I’m an only child so this stuff is new to me.

Thanks Ireland! I’ve missed you too. Haven’t seen you around a lot lately. Assumed it was FS limiting the posts and stuff I see again. I have a bush with small red roses then the yellow then a mini red. But the mini red somehow has two full sized red roses on it after half of the bush died. I’m the back yard I have a rose bush my husbands grandmother gave me. The flowers on it are between a peach and yellow. My white rose bush didn’t come back this year. My pink one dies a few years ago. I don’t have much luck with roses. My in-laws down the road don’t either. Some disease keeps getting them.

Our roses are also affected and I try to remember to put some powder stuff on them and on the phlox. I mostly have red or pink now for roses and don't know why I haven't purchased yellow. I guess I got tired of fixing the flowers. That peach and yellow must be beautiful. I was off the site for maybe 3 weeks or 4 not that long ago. I come here like many to have a peaceful little outlet. I guess we need to take a break if it's not sometimes. :)

Glad you are back! The back rose bush started off peach when his grandma gave it to us. This year it’s more of a yellow color. I don’t understand how it can change from year to year. Like my mini rose bush going to normal size roses. I’m assuming they were grafted or something and it grew back below the graft.

Once upon a time I had roses that had 2 colors but they died. I always thought that some of my mini roses grew bigger because of where they were planted. Who knows? That reminds me that I have to put this stuff in the ground that changes the color of my hydrangea. When I purchased them they were blue and the following year they turned pink. I was so upset. Then I learned that to get the color blue I had to add something to the soil.

Whoa whoa! My eyes are bugging out trying to see your roses! Take a close up!!! Lots of work you did there! I have three girls each two years apart. Oh the crazy stuff that has happened! 😁 I remember the middle one was trimming her own bangs (thankfully her OWN) and cut off her eyelashes!!! Truly! Her eye lashes were so long... Until gone. I think she as 14... Dreadfully tough age. Seems so silly and simple now, but at the time, these things are so upsetting for them. Enjoy! ❤️

And, I know roses diseases... What headaches! 😁 I have 13 bushes and only a couple seems to be the super hardy versions. I'm endlessly fussing and spraying and trimming and... Praying! 😁 You've done a beautiful job!

I'm glad I never experienced the eyebrow cutting. The hair cutting however yes. And once it was the neighbor's hair!

My oldest was about 4 when she decided to get the scissors (from off of the refrigerator!) and cut her hair like daddy’s. He shaves his head bald 🤦‍♀️. This was about two weeks before we were to go to a family wedding so everyone could meet the kids lol. Then she cut her hair again just a tiny bit in kindergarten. My middle let a friend cut her hair, again just a tiny bit, in PreK. Last night I had to keep telling her to look down because I was afraid I’d get her lashes. All my girls have super long lashes like their daddy.

Neighbors have told us they have diseases on their roses. I’ve never tried to spray them. They live or die on their own lol. I really need to learn how to trim them better. The yellow and back red rose bush by the steps seem to be a climbing variety. They just grow up and up and won’t bush out much. The little one was a huge bush but this year only a small part of it came back.
