peeperjj's Journal, 25 March 2020

I’m trying my hand at homeschooling this week. I help the youngest but most of hers are things she can do on her own like addition and coloring in the lines. We do have stuff to go over together and she thinks of it like playing school and loves it. My middle is self motivated and asked for an essay topic but otherwise is doing her own work by herself. She’s excited about starting real online school in a week or two. The oldest complains about everything and how it’s not fair but I’m making her do her work on her own. She’s not looking forward to online school.

We have some of our own gym equipment so have been working out at home. Same routine each time but it’s better than nothing! We have a $5 bench I scored at the thrift shop last summer, an ez curl bar, 10&25# weights for the bar, pull up bar and dumbbells ranging 1-8#. With hubby’s help we can do bench, incline bench, skull crushers, leg lifts, front lateral raises, side lateral raises, deadlifts, bent over rows, lawnmower pulls etc.

Teachers from our elementary school had a parade today. Since we live in the country we drove into town for that. Got an email with a 20% off coupon from jimmys egg and it said their new hours. Checked online an it had different hours. Called for pickup after the parade and they had a message saying they weren’t open during the week now and limited hours on the weekends. Guess they didn’t want my business. We ran to Mazzios instead. Turns out they entered us into a drawing for toilet paper lol. The toilet paper all being gone will get them a lot of business hoping to win the 40 rolls lol.

I’m not getting any notifications now and rarely see anyone’s posts. Not sure if you all are t posting or if it’s an issue with the app. So how is everyone? Keeping busy at home I Hope!

What a crazy world we're living in today! Lots of museums and PBS sites are offering online educational programs for school children, I know our local Houston Museum of Natural Science is. Perhaps you can find something that would interest your older child. I am so puzzled by this urgent need to stock up on toilet paper. ?????

Yes! My oldest is 14 in the 8th grade. Just in the complaining stage lol. She got out of 3 hours of school work today to go watch the parade and grab lunch and she still wasn’t happy 😆. I don’t get the toilet paper thing either. Unless it’s those who aren’t leaving their house for any reason. Where I’m at is still super busy. Anytime I have to run to the store I always stay 6-10 felt away from people but others are huddled around visiting.

Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately income wise, hubbys job is considered critical infrastructure as it’s the agricultural industry so he still has to go see people. He did cancel his fishing trip this weekend though. He’ll make it up this fall. I told him if he goes and comes home he will have to avoid me and the kids for 2 weeks lol. The kids complained yesterday on our shopping run because they didn’t get to go in. Made them a deal:1 kid per store and they couldn’t touch anything or get near anyone. My youngest insisted on wearing her mask the dr gave her when she was sick a couple weeks ago. She kept her hands to her sides and didn’t even try to touch anything. The older two I had to keep germxing because they couldn’t keep their hands off stuff. I keep a small germx in my purse and two large ones at home. Can’t find Lysol anywhere :/.

Hi I don’t usually write on the post but I find these conversations interesting so I thought I’d step up and say some things , first I like the food everyone seems to make and I am if I may say a pretty good cook but not much of a blogger. I do find some remarks uplifting, at this time I still try to watch what I eat and count those calories!! I joined FS I guess a year or so and it is quick helpful. I lost 30 lbs and gain 5 back. Some days can be a shocker but I know to do better the next day.i start the day with a prayer and thank God that I am able to continue doing the things I can still do. I wish you all well and pray that when all is said and done we will be stronger and more compassion will be given to all. Have a blessed day!

Life hasn't changed for me, at all, actually. It's the families with kids, like you, that are having to deal with all that. Good luck with the homeschooling! I'd have sucked at that!

Debby, sometimes if those gains come on quickly they can be from water. I’ve found that if I have a lot of sodium I can easily gain a pound or two of water weight overnight.

LZ so far they are working at their own pace on things they think they need practice on. I’m a pretty good teacher so far because I only have to teach the 5 yo lol. We are going to distance learning the week after next I think. That will be more challenging! Glad all is well with you!
