Hey lifters I have a question. Is it normal to not be very hungry the evening/day of lifting? I’m more hungry the day after than the day of. Like tonight after the gym my stomach is a bit upset. I had trouble finishing a 6” sub.

peeperjj, I am not even going to touch Chris' last line, although tempting. I find on those rare occasions when I am not hungry, a little whey protein powder and flax or almond beverage will suffice.

I know personally when I get home from work and the gym it is between 9 and 10 pm. I not very hungry and certainly don’t want to eat that late. Found having a protein drink satisfies me. But I do wake up in the morning starving!

We normally workout 6-7ish. We have dinner 7:30-8:30 depending on what time we get home and a bedtime snack about 10. I just haven’t been very hungry after working out lately so I prepared ahead and had an egg McMuffin for breakfast and quesadillas for lunch. My protein goal is 100-130g and I got 95g yesterday so a bit short. This morning I’m ravenous. I woke up at 5:50 hungry and had trouble getting back to sleep because I was so hungry. I have another egg McMuffin for this morning. I bought two yesterday assuming I’d be starving this morning lol. While I was close in protein my overall calories were down about 400 for the day. If I make them up today does that mean fat gain or will it go to muscle repair? I can’t find much online about eating post workout that agrees with each other. Thanks! Ps I’m a weirdo too but opposite weirdness I think lol.

Peeper, I love this question. I'm just not hungry when I wake up. So I really don't eat before the gym. I wait until I'm hungry later on in the morning.

It looks like working out makes your hormones wonky. I’m not as hungry after workouts, but I make sure to eat about a couple hours to an hour before for fuel. I still eat after because I think I should. I can always power through a lack of hunger because I have my entire life. 😜

I’m usually not that hungry in the mornings except the day after a workout lol. We workout in the evening when hubby gets off work. I have to plan on eating more protein during the day on workout days. Otherwise I may be chugging two protein shakes before bed :/.

L2E maybe. My hormones are all wonky anyway lol. My dr said don’t eat if I’m not hungry but I’m like you. I feel like I should eat after even if I’m not hungry. Can’t lose muscle gains!
