cocobutt's Journal, 28 July 2010

I've had a lot of freelance work to do so that means my backside is glued to my office chair. And our last 2 meals have been takeout. But not bad restaurant food really. Vietnamese spring rolls are pretty harmless, yet tasty, and a poached pear salad for lunch today was delish.

I've really got to get into more exercise besides dog walking. What is it going to take to make the indoor workouts a daily routine? I feel like I have to stay in this office and get the paying work done first. Then something else will come up and usurp the workout time. Here I am typing and in this 10 minutes I could've been exercising.

LOL You sound like me talking to myself. This is what I think. We are taught financially that we are supposed to pay ourselves first. Save the first 10% and live on the rest. OK, same thing with our exercise. We have to pay ourselves first. Start your day earlier and start it with exercise. Whether it is 10, 15, 30 or 60 minutes, makes no difference. Just start paying yourself first. I have found that in doing so, I can manage to get a ton more done in a day because starting with exercise really energizes me. I also use my walking and eliptical time to plan my day, what I want to get accomplished and a plan for accomplishing it. Works for me.

Wow, did that really post twice?

Ha, yes you did! I'm going to leave it there so comment #3 will make sense ;) I like your analogy about paying yourself first. That is true. And the dividend of more energy really does make sense. I'm going to start off my day with a good breakfast and follow it up with my workout, just like you suggested. Hold me to it!

If you have to do take, get the book "Eat this, not that" it shows typical nutrition for take out/fast food and proposes lower calorie alternatives to the usual gut grenade.

Rune, I just looked at the ETNT web site. Talk about gut grenade... Cheesecake Factory is the worst. Their Bistro Shrimp Pasta has 2,819 calories! Unbelievable.

Hi CCB! Get thee to thy workouts first thing in the am. Your body and your brain will thank you for it. And... you'll be more creative, and have more energy!
