I’m sure this is another outlier. If it turns out not to be then only about 2# to lose for the comp with the kiddo then can start building muscle back! She asked me last night to buy her 40-45# weights. Seems she’s using a barbell with a total weight of about 90#. She asked for dumbbells. Somehow I think those would be out of our price range, hard to find locally and way harder than she expects. She can use her daddy’s bar and weights. He may not have the exact amount of weight she wants but he can probably get her within 20#. It’s hard for me to believe 90# is healthy and safe for a 13 yr old that weighs 115# approximately. Her PE teachers and all the coaches condone it. Maybe I’m just worried for nothing.

You’re correct, at that weight (115), 20# DB is within their strength level.

Thanks! That’s what I thought too. Perhaps it’s more for barbell. She always gets 20# DB for weight lifting in class. I guess they’ve started bar work and she’s 90# there. I’ll have to see if I can catch that teacher at parent teacher conferences next week!
