Maybe some of you can help me. I’ve been feeling that I’m getting more fat on my abdomen. I assumed swelling but it got bigger. Started wondering about muscle loss so lifted weights almost half an hour today(logged 20 minutes to account for short rests). I’m where I was several weeks ago except I was 70 for one hip machine vs 75 before. Triceps extensions were 30 rather than 35 but I feel that I could’ve handed say 32-33. Leg press was 170-180 when I was 210 max before. I did 25-30 total at the above today.

So... did I lose muscle but still retain most of my strength? If I haven’t lost muscle then how am I gaining fat in my abdomen yet still losing weight? I haven’t noticed a decrease in inner thigh size yet today I noticed that I had less inner thigh on the seats (more room between them than I remember). Wore jeans today rather than tight workout leggings Just starting to worry about belly fat returning. And honestly it’s even bigger tonight! That could be swelling though because surgery was only about 4 weeks ago. I was on my feet most of the day from 7am to 3pm and again 5:30-7:30 (no sitting down at all for 1 hour and 40minutes + of that). Two parties, shopping at 5 stores and trunk or treat today. Meals were unhealthy to say the least. Someone created a monster as well. Had to grab another apple filled 🍩 for breakfast. Walked out without a protein bar :/.

Do you use a measuring tape or calipers? If not, you may want to start. :)

Both. The problem is that I don’t have training in the calipers. So not accurate but I think I’m consistent in how I do it. I haven’t measured in awhile so I’ll do that just as soon as I can figure out where my sewing measuring tape went! I’m also wondering about maybe swelling but after four weeks I wouldn’t think that area would swell up again. I mean come on, I look 4 months pregnant tonight! Again I did workout, burned 400+ cal just walking in stores and with kids today and am drinking tea and water. Guess it could also be a bit of water log or fluid retention. Oddly enough I haven’t had to go to the bathroom much today even after all I’ve drank. I think I’ll grab the calipers and see what it says and compare to last time. Thanks!

Well I’m constantly in a deficit weekly but the deficit is now in the hundreds instead of thousands. I don’t understand how I can lose weight yet gain fat in my abdomen. So confusing! This morning however, the tummy is smaller again. Not as small as it was a week ago but not the pregnant look either. Maybe bloating even though I didn’t feel bloated? Water retention a bit in the adipose tissue from the workout and/or maybe from a bit of dehydration? I’m about to step on the scale now (slept in late). As long as it’s not up 1# or more I won’t worry about it. Have a BIG family meal tonight and I’ll eat what I want in any amount I want as long as I’m not a pound or more heavier lol. I rarely get to eat with my family anymore and want to show my great aunts that I’m dieting, will be for the rest of my life, yet can still enjoy a large meal at a restaurant. One worried about my mental health with a restrictive diet. One because she says I’ve been through too much in the last several years and another because I can get ocd about things and go overboard lol. She keeps me grounded sometimes 😉. Thanks for the info Chris!
