My aging, forgetful mind forgot a couple of other things I learned on my trip -- *If I'm out to dinner or at any social event and find myself in a less than pleasant conversation or circle of people, I have options -- I can join a different circle or conversation; I can take my Angel's advice & focus on eating mindfully, working through each mindful eating step & truly enjoying each bite; or I can take a bathroom break or find another escape route to somewhere that I can pause, pray, breathe, journal or whatever my mindful self needs. *Make sure I/we (if I'm traveling with my family) know how many bags we're checking & have that number of luggage tags before leaving the check-in counter:) *Do not, for any reason or however tempting, go on another bobsled ride:)! As I said to my friends on the trip… me the one who hates to cook… I'd rather cook a 10-course meal for a party of 50 than ride that bobsled again!
All kidding aside, though, it was a great, fun-filled trip. And, I get to build on those successes as I travel again next Weds to go see my Mom again next week Weds-Sun. I'm thinking I need to bump up her level of care as she's unable to set her alarm clock now & was unable to remember her health insurance or figure out which of the cards in hr wallet was her insurance card when she need to see a doctor for a stubbed toe. I know I won't be able to get out there again until June (DS graduates in May), so want to go get that sorted out now. The next level has someone checking in on her & helping her with what she needs daily rather than only occasionally as needed as she has now.
I'm off this morning to workout, have a hot stone massage this afternoon (lucky, lucky me!) & then take my kitty to the vet for her annual visit (she has been having some breathing/hacking/coughing episodes lately though, so fingers crossed that all is ok). And, while I'm more than today's or any number, the one on the scale today was down which reinforces my course & mindful eating. So for now, staying gluten, lactose & sugar aware on a 16:8 plan when I can do so mindfully seems to be a good WOE & will continue to be my story and I'm sticking to it! But first, I'll stick to my morning prayer --
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time; Enjoying one moment at a time; Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; That I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him Forever in the next. Amen.
And, I'll pray, breathe, journal, log & express my way through this one day, and each one meal, moment, bite, thought & emotion. I'm beyond grateful for each of amazing you, my family & IRL friends, having had such a fun trip that I was truly able to relax & enjoy, and coming home with the health & wealth to live this life I love, including a massage today! xoxox
