I CHEATED 4 the 1st time in 9 mo on Keto. I had ONE. The kids &I stumbled across an exquisite handmade chocolate &artisan tea shop. This is dark chocolate delicately flavored w/wild California coastal herbs. It has won awards. I do not regret my choice. 😊

I would never say you cheated, and you should never feel guilty. I would say this is my way of eating, and YOU ARE entitled to some other food choices on your journey.

Do n ok- Thanks for all of your support! 😊 I only say "cheated" because I purposely ordered and ate something made with table sugar. Apparently it wasn't much because the scale finally really budged this morning.

I thnk cheating for a special occasion is fine and you dont need to be guilty, if you can do it without getting derailled. I had a party at my house last Sunday, and reverted right back to diet habit mode Monday morning. Of course nothing on the schedule for a few weeks and the carb weight just came right back off. Good luck!!

yugguth- I love your bio btw- Thanks for sharing that feedback. They say the longer you are Keto/low carb the quicker you bounce back from the occasional carby encounter. I haven't ever really put that to the test yet. That chocolate wasn't super sweet so it probably wasn't enough carbs to mess with ketosis.

I hope that is true. I went up to 30 net carbs on Wed & 22net Thursday and I'm kicked out of Ketosis. :/ Oh well, my body was craving/ needing extra carbs.

Xappie what makes you sure 30 carbs kicked you out?

I test on the strips. I know it's not 100% accurate as the blood but I think it still gives you a pretty good idea.

It's soooo pretty!

Cheat is such a negative word. I always think of it as I made a conscious decision to eat or not eat something. Hopefully it's worth it, sometimes it's not and I remember that for future decision making. I also remember that ketosis is not the be-all end-all to weight loss. A person can be in ketosis and still gain weight, it basically means you are eating less than 25g or so carbs consistently.

Every now and again we all need a treat. I see this as a treat rather than a cheat. Besides, you state you were faithful to your eating plan for 9 months. Keep up the good work.

Xappie- I'm not sure how long you have been on Keto but color on the urine strips is only the goal in the beginning. What you want is eventually for the strips to show nothing because your body has fully adapted to USING the keytones versus spilling them. In fact, pink strips after a couple of months is what you want to avoid because it means the body is dumping keytones as its shifting to use glucose as fuel instead of fat. So if a person were on Keto faithfully for 3 months and then ate a bowl of rice all of a sudden, seeing pink on the strips would be because of the body dumping keytones to process the new glucose intake, Its not the same thing as seeing pink the 5th day of Keto. I hope I explained that right. The only really accurate way to know if you are in ketosis or not for sure is a blood monitor. But I think if the body was really assaulted by carbs, you would see a water weight gain.

That does make sense & might have just been the case. I will have to look more into it the science aspect to get a better understanding. I like to test randomly, just because it's right there on the counter & I'm just sitting there. 😜😜😜 I was also curious because I have been eating what I call "dirty" keto. PMS was rough this month lol

You're doing awesome. I'm over analyzing too- I just ordered that scale! Ha ha. Patience isn't a strong point!

Oh did it come in yet? I hope you like the scale!

We can have a little bitter or dark chocolate on our keto diets. My problem I can't keep it to a "little bit".

Xappie the scale was back ordered but I should get it soon 👍

valeriecampbell- I know what you mean. This place was uber-expensive though so that wasn't going to happen! I find it easy to be satisfied with smaller amounts of dark chocolate especially if it's along side a cup of coffee - but milk chocolate, not so easy! 😋
