Not sure it's usual, but I know it's not unusual. You drop a lot of water when you start LCHF and it is motivating. Just be careful to stick to your plan as the loss will become less.

Carbs require water. Bad news is, eat a bit of carbs and all the water comes back. I don't weigh myself, but can see the effects of carbs (or not) dramatically enough on my body, even when the same clothes fit fine.

Yes it is. Carbohydrates by their chemical makeup each have a water component. That's why you also urinate a lot in the first few weeks. Then it slows down. Keep up your fluid intake to a 'minimum of 2 quarts a day' to maintain adequate hydration. Great news about your weight loss.👍

I see that kind of wt. loss ( and gain ) associated with salt intake. Most processed foods have salt in some form added to enhance flavor. Cheeses, processed meats and salad dressings even ice cream affects me that way.

Low carb will cause a lot of water weight to drop and for most, it allows a nice calorie deficit due to the fact that you're omitting so many foods that are cheap and easy to overeat. Otherwise, there is no advantage to fat loss by going low carb.

yes (muscle glycogen bound to water being depleted)

one of the advantages to low carb is appetite control. Others can be seen in the A to Z study.

Carbs retain water in your body, so less carbs, less body weight, your body is experiencing a new way of eating, so enjoy the weight loss, you will learn later what works best for you to loose weight , keep it up

Well, so far so good! Last meal of the day for the last 4 days has been before 7PM, and I don't eat anything until after 11AM, and then when I do eat I'm REALLY trying to stay way low on carbs. Even with the 16:8, I haven't been STARVING like I was before. A cup of black coffe and a bottle of water hold me well until 11. Thanks for the support!

Sounds like you are on the right track. If you get carb flu (short one day where you feel lethargic until you start really burning fat), just hang in there maybe have an extra piece of sausage or whatever is your "legal" snack until it passes. good luck
