Magdalena003's Journal, 11 September 2016

I like my coffee black and my best friend likes me to like things that she likes. Although it is true that we enjoy many of the same things such as films, music, living over 70 miles apart, and doing laps around the playground while pretending our misbehaved children belong to someone else (the basics). Her coffee is blended with coconut oil and butter. She refers to this as bulletproof. She convinced me to add the oil a few months ago stating that it would give me what I needed in two words: energy boost. I work 12 hour shifts and spawned two tiny tornadoes who tear through my house like the 4ft twisters they are (it's the same cow!). I stirred it in and did the best I could to drink this disaster. The only two words that I can use to honestly describe what this oily armageddon provided me are: anal leakage. I was informed that this happened because I didn't add any butter. Apparently, it is key to place a frozen stick of butter in your anus, and this will soon result in an energy surge and double as a buttery butt plug. I was able to locate zero scientific evidence to substantiate this claim.

This bulletproof coffee has made a recent reappearance in my life. I have been struggling to get my calories in for the day and I have found that if I blend the coconut oil and butter into the coffee, it is frothy instead of oily and still quite disgusting. If I drink it first thing in the morning, while I'm still half asleep (perfect conditions for operating an immersion blender), I can manage to get it down and keep it down by chasing it with a few cups of black coffee. Although I am not likely to stick to this morning ritual, I do feel it is important to learn something from our experiences and I will share my newly obtained butter/oil coffee knowledge with you. Pro tip: No matter what you do to the coffee, it doesn't make the mug bulletproof.

Anal leakage, what every girl needs. I read about it, thought about it, ignored it - you're braver than I!

ya... I have a love / hate relation ship with bullet proof coffee. it makes me way to jittery to have it every day.. Its more of a " day off clean the house" drink and I stick to fat bombs for my 3 pm boost.

Hahahaha! Great writing! I resisted trying BPC for a long time, but I have to say, it's made a world of difference in my weight loss quest...especially since I switched out the coconut oil for MCT oil. And I love the flavor and texture of it. But then, people have always remarked that I only drink coffee as an excuse to have a cup of cream and sweetener. :P Nice drop, too!

Bulletproof coffee needs to be BLENDED - like you said you use an immersion blender to meld the coconut oil and butter - use UNsalted butter if you are not already - makes a huge difference. But, it did take getting use to for me - but now it is my morning staple. Nice loss this week!

bahahaha!!!! The last time I hear about A.L was the with 1st generation of Olestra they but in potato chips to help you not digest as much fat. That worked like trying to teach a rock to swim. Olestra is still around, just re-formulated. Thanks for this one Magda.

:) A very fun early A.M. read as I sit sipping my BPC. First time I heard about this questionable concoction I couldn't imagine what was to come...I had a little Dutch gene way down inside chanting Do it, Do it, Do it!! After getting past the slick lips effect, I realized that there MUST be some kind of chemical reaction that makes the stuff addictive as I must have my strong coffee with oils of all kinds and there is no other explanation!! Have a wonderful day/ enjoy your java :)

You all are so funny! I just started making Bullet Proof Coffee as well. After playing around with it, I found a combination that I like for flavor and texture. I had been told to use 2 Tbsp of each: Whipping Cream, Butter (unsalted, like Kerrys Gold - something to do with emulsifying better) and Coconut Oil. For me that was too much and got too jittery. So at 1 Tbsp of each of those, then I sweetened to taste, and added some Carmel flavoring. Use Immersion blender or reg. blender for up to 1 minute. It makes a nice smooth flavored drink. Since I don't want to do all that every morning, I made a larger batch and froze them in molds. Hope this helps, but honestly all the posts were more fun to read!
