Calorie counting works. And from my years of dieting. The best diet is one that you can do for life… and it’s not one size fits all kind of thing. What works for me, might not work for you. It’s trial and error and weight loss is not linear. There will always be ups and downs. Stick with what you’re doing. If you’re enjoying what you’re eating and losing between 2-4 kgs a month. Then I wouldn’t change a thing if I was you 💖

My advice would be to do keto. You don't have to count calories, but you do need to be active (as with any "diet") and you should just eat from the green list. Google the banting food lists, you can find them easily. There should be a green list, orange list, and red list. If there are any other colour lists they are wrong. I am doing keto (again) now as well. I did it 5 years ago and dropped 17kgs effortlessly. Never counted any carbs. All the info is online. Whatever you decide, good luck! Remember it's not a race, it's a journey! And listen to your body. Only eat when hungry. And if you do keto and still get cravings, you need to eat more fat 🤩

@Fatgirlslim1982 I think I'm gonna stick to my diet till I finished my sugar pills think I have till first week of October and then possibly give Keto a kick in the butt. Will give it 2 months on keto and see how it goes.

@Maretha Spangenberg the thing is I have Addisons Disease and one of my main problems with Addisons is that it won't allow me to exercise, it doesn't give me energy to move around. At 28 I have no energy, and there is alot more to it but will give it a boost as I do have my rare days with exercise But thank you very much for giving me the advice and helping me out I highly appreciate it.

@Sheakoh, keto definitely helps with insulin resistance, PCOS and prediabetics. And those with type 2 diabetes. I have done keto, it does work, but I love bread 😂 as long as you can maintain what you’ve lost. Then that’s the lifestyle for you. There isn’t a diet I’ve done that didn’t work. My problem is sticking to it. Yo-yo dieting has been bad for my health.

Calorie counting is very sustainable as a lifestyle change not just as a crash diet. I Lost 45+kg and just by that and no exercising so give that a go

I'm sorry to tell you but keto is a lifestyle not a diet. You can't stop and start it or you will put on weight. 🤷‍♀️

I also battled with Keto. Tried it about a year ago, but could'nt find my mojo with it. I thought it would be BRILLIANT for my likes/dislikes etc, but Samantha is spot on, it's NOT a diet & if done incorrectly can result in major weight gain. I find 16:8 IF and calorie counting works for me.... ☺

I’m on Keto, and it works for me…but, I agree with Anne and Samantha. It is a lifestyle.

Try what works for you.. I tries vegan but I was always hungry.. Then tries keto and after my body adjusted to burning fat I was as happy as I can be... Lost so much weight already and I'm never hungry

I find that Intermittent Fasting works with eating Keto-ish and counting calories. I tried a lot of other ways of eating and nothing worked as good as IF. It helps to take your focus off food which helps get over binge eating. Everything is trial and error and you have to find what works for you and just keep going. good luck!

for me. my aha moment came after reading how not to die by Dr Greger and watching 'how to loose weight without loosing your mind" on YouTube. i can't say enough how much this has helped me. i am losing weight really slowy because i decided not to go to extreme. it works better for me. i also don't want to yo-yo diet. but these two doctors has absolutely revolutionalised they way i see food. they advocate for going vegan but you don't have to to still learn great stuff from them. currently i am averaging one vegan meal a day on average and i still eat everything i love. getting there slowly works well for me.

also. sorry to say this but there are ma y studies showing keto is dangerous especially for long term health. i considered it until I saw the long term effects. if you choose to do keto. you must do it with a nutritionist.

Being in the medical field, I’d like to just bring to your attention the fact that being on keto has many health concerns long-term (and unfortunately this diet hasn’t been around for very long for people to notice this but there are many risk factors here). For example: The amount of saturated fat the diet has is not good for the heart- it raises your LDL (bad!!) which could lead to a heart attack from blocked arteries. It also becomes difficult to hit those micros. It aids in weight loss, sure, to an extent. However, many people find it to be unsustainable in the long-run as it becomes very restrictive as well. It helps with epileptic patients though and I’d recommend it for lowering blood sugar- but not as a lifestyle change. You need to think healthier and maintainable. Also, it’s not good for patients with issues with their gallbladder, pancreas, liver.. etc. In conclusion if you’re looking at doing keto I’d suggest talking to your dr first and getting all your checkups done before starting keto… and get the tests done again after keto, let the results speak for themselves. Good luck and all the best ☺️☺️ Ps: this is literally a medical point of view. Don’t come for me 😆

I Do Not agree with you Seshni17, I have been on Keto for nearly a year now. My Doctor is amazed at my blood works. My Cholesterol levels are the best ever, Not Diabetic(was borderline type 2), my Blood pressure is normal(was high). I sleep better. I look better. My skin is clear had very bad eczema. I am menopausal and suffered from night sweats and cramps all of that disappeared in the last year. I in fact feel 20 years younger I got so much energy. I eat lots of vegetables and fruit, I do eat fatty meat, chicken, pork and fish, I do use olive oil and butter, I do drink tea, coffee and water. AND the best part is I have lost a whole 27 Kilograms. When I started Keto I did weigh 99.2kg I presently weigh 71.8kg. I was a dress size 46 and now size 38. SO KETO all the way!!

And just to add to that, my knees, hips and back were constantly aching all of that gone too!! So this is my Testament to Keto.

Count Calories!!! I have tried every diet under the sun , and yes I would lose weight but never managed to keep the weight off. I love food , and restrictive diets depressed me so much. I woul lose , only to gain more because restrictive diets are just not sustainable. I have lost over 20 kg from counting calories since last year . Even when I stop tracking calories for close to 6 months this year , I did not gain much this is because I was still eating all the foods I ate whilst I was on a "diet" . I didn't end up binge eating, I was still mindful of my portion sizes, bread didn't excite me , cake didn't excite me because I was used to eating them so I never overate . Carbs don't make you fat , Fat doesn't make you fat , Sugar doesn't make you fat . Eating more calories you burn is what makes you gain fat . The fact that you are on FS means you in the right place, track calories, eat nutrirnt dense foods yes but don't restrict yourself. If you have Instagram or access to YouTube. Please follow Bodysmartfitness or Lean Girl . They explain everything so well . Best fitness coaches 👌

I have done Keto life style for some time. I lost weight from 106 kg to to 63 kg. But u can stay on Keto forever. As soon as u go back to to normal way of eating the weight comes back. I started colarie counting just abt 2 weeks or so back. I was 80kg now Im at 77 kg. I promise u, in I have never lost weight so effortlessly. I don't feel deprived of anything. Food is just food all I do is control how much I eat of everything & my choice of what I eat improving.
