Well today was a bust! -The insurance company did not send the authorization for my heart catherization and the hospital wanted my to sign that I would pay if it was not approved. No way! I said I don't have that kind of money. I walked out in sobbing. Frustrated and angry. The OR staff is now waiting to do their job, I will have to repeat some pre op tests plus go through the prep and anxiety all over again. Not eating any thing until later just incase they call me to come in this afternoon - but I doubt it. So now I have to reschedule a bunch of stuff. What a waste of time and money for all!!! Not sure who dropped the ball - such a shame- people do not care ant more or take pride in their job.
297.5 lb Lost so far: 8.0 lb.    Still to go: 107.5 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Oh Lynda, I am so sorry to read this. Your frustration and anger are totally understandable. However, please consider that part of the reason people in the insurance industry and, to a lesser extent some areas of healthcare, do not care or take pride in their work as much as they once did is because the CORPORATIONS do not care about their employees. They expect the employees to functions like robots. The corporations say they care, but that is not reflected in the ever increasing workload demands they place on the employees. Consider that perhaps one of the people processing your "paperwork" on the computer was so overwhelmed by workload and perhaps personal stress that they were unable to give it their full attention. While it would be optimal if everyone could function perfectly at their job, that is just not the reality. That does not really help you any - as the preparation and anxiety before this procedure IS very stressful and I want to acknowledge that, but I hope that in a bit you may be able to see that it was not necessarily willful neglect on the part of some employee who is really just a cog in the "medical-industrial-complex" we now call healthcare. Take care this evening and find something to do that will help you relax. Wishing you all the best.

I agree with what you are saying. I have worked in the many areas of the medical field, authorization area also. So I know the the are so many "walls that can be hit when processing these requests. However someone dropped the ball. Yes I angry- I have stayed home foe several weeks to avoid possible virus exposure, I canceled my husband 80th birthday party that was to be a visit in PA also. I followed getting all the necessary tests and prepping. Sorry I am not out to "shoot the messenger" and I really do appreciate your input and comments - but now I have to do it all over again. It's exhausting and sad how dysfunctional our medical syatem is.
