slimvero's Journal, 18 January 2011

i'm feeling upset, sad, discouraged, angry, frustrated and so many other bad feelings cuz my weight was going down so well and now i'm back up. i don't get it... i really don't get it. in general i'm eating fewer carbs, i am eating breakfast that consists mostly of protein and very little carb. lunch is steak and salad, sometimes sauteed mushrooms. i drink only calorie and carb free stuff and i changed out my coffee mate for half and half.

my downfall was the hummus, the two slices of small thin crust pizza and probably the bread i snuck here and there. i was eating pistachios and that was a big no no but i dind't know, however, i was losing wedight fairly steady and quickly. i felt good, energized and willing to exercise.

this week so far is not going well. today is tuesday, i haven't gone to the gym or out walking. and after this increase in weight, i'm not feeling inspired. this is when i start to give up on diets... when i see that i don't lose and on top of it all, i gain. just sucks. if after two more weeks i see no big difference, i'm going to the diet doctor and getting myself on meds and b12 shots.

but for now, persistance, determination and perseverance is what i'm gonna hold onto.

i'm so annoyed though.

Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution is the program that yields the best results. 3 cups salad veggies or 2 cups salad & 1 cup other veggies, eat liberaly of fats & proteins, no nuts, 64oz water minimum (this keeps the fats moving), no artificial sweeteners for the 1st couple of weeks & then only 3 tsp per day (counts as 1 carb each), no coffee mate, no half & half, no caffein, no milk, no bananas, no diet pepsi, no doughnuts, no more than 20 net carbs per day and on and on and on. You are sabotaging your own efforts. Do you want this or not? I know it sounds harsh but these little things are never going to help you get over your cravings which will make it impossible for you to do this long term & I know with some determination & focus on your goal you can do this. You are completely in control. I am 227 going down to 120 & nothing is going to get in my way not even me. Keep telling yourself I'm doing this, I'm doing this. You've already started you just need to make some more adjustments. Ignore the foods that are not options for you right now. Create new options & create a new life with those options. You are woman, you are strong, quitting is not an option. I believe in you.

thank you slushkitty, your words do encourage me. maybe i'm not reading the book right... i'm on the site too and i see that half and half is allowed in phase one and also i'm allowed sweet and low. diet pepsi is gone... i'm onto crystal light with extra water to make it more diluted. i'm drinking more water and definitely no more nuts and no more donuts and no more hummus (that hurts cuz i so love middle eastern food and thought that was the one food i didn't have to give up) the milk and bananas was totally stupid... i made a milkshake for my husband and took a sip so i wouldn't spill it on the way to the living room. just a stupid habit... Hey that's a place for hidden calories no? self-sabotage is really what i'm doing. i know that donut was soooo wrong last night but it was like a split second and it was in my mouth. suprisingly i hated it the whole time, but i was so craving a simple carb. i hated myself even more after. i don't want to sabotage myself anymore, i do want to do this!! Therefore i will. i'm 203.4, was 201 this weekend. I plan to be back to 201 next weekend. this week will be there and God willing I'll see the results. by the way, are you exercising at all? the book says you don't have to, but you can. again, thanks...

Hi Slim, i just want to encourage you on your continuing weight loss. : ) I know for me that the first week I still craved the foods I used to eat but after that week it was easier. I did not crave the sweets and the bread I was able to go without before. I even took my 2 girls to starbucks and it did not bother me to say no to myself. I just dont crave those things anymore. I have been on this since Dec 13th and I am now starting to get a little bored with the choices I eat but I am still losing so it keeps me on track. As you can see I have only lost 11 lbs but it is better than no loss at all. You have goals and that is great to keep you motivated. Keep a log on all food and you can see where you go wrong. I have been going over my carb limit by just a little and I realized that I was making myself stand still so I changed my eating a bit and down another pound. It is tough but so worth it. I know you can do it. : )
