Returned yesterday from a Friday to Sunday trip to Hendersonville, NC. The weather was flawless. In the 60s-70s during the day and in the 30s-40s at night. Cloudless skies and leaves at their peak color. We had MIL with us, so all we did was drive and eat. I gave in to a donut, 2 biscuits and a piece of apple pie. That is apple country up there, so we came back with a half-bushel. But I have no desire for the refined carbs now that I'm back home. I'm back on track with my usual breakfast. Looking forward to my walk this afternoon too.
I also finished reading the Pollan book, In Defense of Food. It is inspiring me to go to the local farm co-op and see if I can sign up for their shares. When I get some work done today, I want to post some comments in the FS book group.

Hey, a little extra exercise and you'll quickly work off this weekend's indulgences. Your general eating habits are sound, so a little spree once in awhile is pretty harmless.

BTW, I'm glad you had a nice time, and I will let the "apple country" comment slide, since everyone knows that Washington State is the real Apple Country.

Rune, it's a good thing WA state and NC are on opposite sides of the US or there might be apple wars! NC is very proud of its orchards too. We bought a half-bushel of stamen-winesaps, and they're pretty delish. Not as good as the honeycrisps though, Ceebee!
