Today was my weigh-in day. I didn't lose anything but I decided I was going to have a really excellent day and I have. I took my measurements and found out I lost 3 inches off my waist and an inch off my hips! Now that could change by tomorrow because I am notoriously bad about having consistent measurements but today I am excited about it. I am especially happy about losing inches off my waist because those inches are particularly dangerous ones for my health when I am diabetic. I haven't yet begun my workouts at home but when I do I hope I will lose even more inches. The important thing is that regardless of what my scale or my measuring tape said I am in this life style for the long haul. If I don't lose this week I will lose down the road. As long as I stay on the plan I will end up losing weight.
I have decided to move on to OWL because my blood sugars have become too low since I have been on Atkins. They are supposed to run between 100-120 at night and they are usually running slightly over 80. The only way I can get them up is to increase my carbs. So I am going to start having 5 extra carbs a day (probably nuts at bedtime) so I can raise my bedtime blood sugars. I have been feeling kind of sick since it has been running low anyway. I will probably add 5 more carbs next week and add some fruits then hold my carbs there for a while. Hopefully I will be able to lose at those levels. I will find out. I will be starting my home workouts soon so that should help.

The Beck Diet Solution My Distractions Activity Chart looks like this. Column 1 Heading - Distraction Activity then the following list of activities - Brush your teeth - Polish your nails - Reread parts of this book - Call a friend or your diet coach - Talk to a neighbor or coworker - Go to a store - Play with a child or pet - Ride your bicycle - Go for a walk or exercise - Read or write e-mail - Take a bath or shower - Do a crafts project - Put together a puzzle - Practice a musical instrument - Tinker with the car - Work in the garden or yard - Put photographs in an album - Do a specific chore (such as clean out a desk drawer) - Putter around the house (such as change lightbulbs, replace smoke detector batteries, etc.) - Surf the internet (keep a running list of things you've always wanted to look up and save them for these times) - Write additional distraction techniques here.
Column 2 Heading - Effectiveness (0-10) and under that heading the numbers 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10. "Rate each distraction on a scale of 0 to 10, with 0 meaning this activity didn't help at all and 10 meaning this activity helped completely." (to distract you from a craving)

Congrats on the inches lost. That is awesome. Sounds like a good idea to add in a few carbs for your blood sugar.

Inches or pounds we dont care as long as it goes. My glucose meter measures different in canada. My numbers before bed are between 5-8, 2hours after eating it should be 5-8 thats idea and before meals 4-6. I usually run from 4.8 to 6.2 since I started atkins...even with low carbs I dont go to low, my numbers so far have been great. Your doing great you know what you need to keep them where they should be. The inch loss is impressive...way to go!

Soooo Happy For You!!! :))) YEAH!!! - If the pounds remain stubborn, then set a small goal for inches lost...it won't be long before you'll need a new pair of pants anyway! Did you happen to see the American Idol Audition of some older guy singing "Pants on the ground"...? Well, it's a riot...my cousin and I have used that song - and the motivation behind it...to keep us going during some very slow going times in this eating plan...but you know what...from where I started, those pants do fall to the ground if I put them on now...so hang in there - you're doing awesome!

Great job! I haven't lost any weight, either, but my body fat percentage is dropping and I've lost inches without any pounds a lot. Glad the number didn't get you on the wrong foot. I let that happen to me too much. I'm not recording my weight until Thurs., hoping that water retention from ham and premenstrual bloat will ease up by then. As it stands, I'm 2 lbs heavier and that's back to my weight just about a month ago! It's like two steps forward, 1 3/4 back. So it's nice reading your journal and seeing that you don't let the scale determine your mood. Great inspiration for me. Thanks!
