Happy Hump Day Everyone,

Well despite my dismal results last week I have stayed the course and working on finishing off my 4th week of keeping my carbs under 20g a day. I think I've done really well with no slips to this point. I find myself dreaming of bread lol - I was thinking of taking a day to have a small bag of chips nothing overboard. I'm just wondering if it like smoking where its a slippery slope and the cravings will come back and I'll be back to square one, any thoughts??

1st off, congrats. This is a great example of discipline and I am very proud of you. I am aiming for a daily average of 30 g net carbs in OCT. Personally, If I touch the bread or chips at this stage in my game, it's over! You will have to walk this walk for yourself and see. Be careful. Onwards Tbay!!!

Agree with @chesgreen - and, you are aware of your limits and can work around them!

You might need to experiment. I'm tempted to find a way to get Ches to swap his pie chef for my pork expert for a few weeks, but reality is that getting back on track felt harder each time. Before FS, I usually joined my partner for splurge days between their A1C stints. Last time I stopped early bc it just wasn't worth it. But that was after over 18 months of splurges every 3 months. YKMV. --- You might need a shipment of pork rinds. Do you have friends at the border? --- You might need occasional moderate "carb up" meals as Leanne Vogel describes. The gospel of keto is very male, doesn't work 1:1 for all women. Spoiler: her carb ups aren't junk food.

Thanks I have not taken the plunge yet and I would think carbing up would not involve junk food...lol. I think that's what I need to focus on are splurges with a healthier focus. T8U9 - it sounds exactly like my struggle with quitting smoking no cheating or its a real struggle to get back and I will have to order some of the pork rinds off amazon just cannot seem to find them here. Have been hesitating to try the low carb pizza crust and treats because they seem to still seem to have quite a bit more carbs then I have room for in a day, but will see may just need to let go the 20g per day and look at a more sustainable long term number 30g maybe @ches look at what you've accomplished getting to 30g in Oct is not going to be an issue for you:) @184 I think your giving me too much credit...lol

the only thing "carb-ups" have ever done for me is make me feel like crap, forced me to go back thru sugar withdrawl, and remind me I don't eat that stuff. I'm a girl, btw, and my hormones are much more stable on LCHF than anything else.

I tho't I could do the 'occasional carb'. Now I can't seem to get back. Night time munching has me in it's grasp and I can't shake it. I wish I hadn't got on this slippery slope. Good luck if you try it. .

Anon, carb-ups are things like one meal with a side of brown rice. People use the expression to justify sugar binges. --- @Tbay, my pizza crust was pretty close to zero carb. The toppings I used kicked it up, but that's not necessary.

I find it's the "crunch" of the chip or the saltiness that I miss. I buy the skinny girl mini popcorn bags. When I have a carb craving I make a bag, pour out a small cupful and give the rest to my husband. Satisfies those cravings every time and hardly any carbs!

anonymous and dboza thanks for sharing your experiences. T8U9 is the recipe in your journal the fat head pizza crust everyone raves about is like 8g a slice once I added cheese, a bit of sauce and some mushrooms and peppers that a lot for 1 slice of an 8 inch pizza. LeAnn I'll look into that thanks

Hey TBG, if you ever do go "postal" on a bag of chips, bread or say a tub of Ben & Jerry's, don't get discouraged...get even!! Do some low calorie days coupled with some higher activity days and you'll be back on track in a day or two....I might be speaking from experience here re the B & J....
