BrandyRelaxing's Journal, 10 January 2012

So I entered the Biggest Loser contest at work. The scale said I weighed 262... which is insane, but given I had drank a ton of water and it was late in the afternoon, it makes sense. I did that to have a higher starting weight, so my weight loss would be higher.

So I've committed to getting to 250 on their scale - so down 12 pounds in 9 weeks. It should be easy. I say that now, but in 4 weeks when I'm not half way, I'll be kicking myself.

And today was not my best food day. I'm not sure if it was the combination of stress or the types of food I was eating, but I ate way more than I intended, but it's just one day, and tomorrow is a new day!

Your work's scale may not be calibrated properly, plus every scale is different so I wouldn't worry about it. I would recommend that you continue to use your own scale for logging your actual weight, and only use the workscale to show how much you've lost for the contest. Loving the can-do attitude girl, keep it up!

Thanks... I was just surprised it was higher by almost 10 pounds, but I do think that scale is slightly abused given the number of people who use it at work, plus it sits in our kitchen, so it likely gets kicked periodically by someone on their way by it.

You know what - don't even look at it - know it's recording a weight for work but if you know your scale at home is accurate and it's going down - the scale at work will go down too in porportion to what happens at home. And if it doesn't, then you may want to challenge the event organizers to get the work on calibrated. But don't use it as a personnal reference since they are sooo far different than your home one.

Don't worry too much about the scale. The important thing is the positive attitude.
